Mountain Hawks fall to Scarlet Knights, 3-2
The Lehigh volleyball team took Rutgers to a fifth and deciding set on Tuesday night but was unable to come up with the win, losing 3-2 to the Scarlet Knights. The Mountain Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the match and were within two points of knocking off the Scarlet Knights in the fourth set, but Rutgers stormed back to tie the match at two sets apiece and eventually defeated Lehigh in the deciding fifth set.

Lehigh to clash with Rutgers Tuesday
The Lehigh volleyball team will welcome the Rutgers Scarlet Knights into Leeman-Turner Arena inside Grace Hall for a Tuesday night showdown with the Big East-foe. The Mountain Hawks will take the court for their second home match of the 2012 season after a nine-day hiatus from game action in search of stopping a three-game skid, while also trying to slow a surging Rutgers team that has won eight straight games, including four consecutive sweeps.

Lehigh drops doubleheader in Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup Tournament
The Lehigh volleyball team fell in both halves of a twin bill on Saturday afternoon, to Virginia and Western Kentucky, in the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup Tournament at the University of Virginia. The Mountain Hawks held leads but were unable to hang on for wins against the Cavaliers and Hilltoppers.

Mountain Hawks fall to Delaware in opener at UVa Tournament
The Lehigh volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday dropping a 3-1 decision to Delaware in the opening match of the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup at Memorial Gymnasium. All four sets were tightly contested, but the Blue Hens prevailed 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 for their first win of the season, while dropping the Mountain Hawks to 1-1.

Volleyball team to open University of Virginia Tournament Friday
The Lehigh volleyball team will play three games in two days when it travels to compete in the University of Virginia Tournament this weekend. The Mountain Hawks will go toe to toe with three adept volleyball teams when they start with Delaware on Friday and then play a twin bill against Virginia and Western Kentucky on Saturday.

Lehigh defeats Rider 3-1 in volleyball opener.
The Lehigh volleyball team opened its 2012 season with a 3-1 victory over Rider Sunday night inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks took a 2-0 lead early in the match and put the Broncs away in the fourth set, 25-21, for the win. Lehigh was led by senior Taylor Poole who recorded 14 kills and ended the match with a .444 hitting percentage.

Volleyball opens season against Rider on Sunday
Lehigh will play host to Rider University on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks will start their 2012 campaign at the Leeman-Turner Arena at 6 p.m. Lehigh is coming off a third place finish in the Patriot League last season and is hoping to rebound from an early exit from the postseason. Two-time first team All-Patriot League selection Taylor Poole looks to help guide the Mountain Hawks back to the Patriot League Tournament for the second straight season.

Lehigh Athletics season, fall broadcast schedule to begin Friday
With the fall season set to get underway on Friday, Lehigh Athletics has announced its fall broadcast schedule. For the third straight year Lehigh has partnered with Stretch Internet to deliver fans live action via the Lehigh GameCentral portal. Most men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, and volleyball home contests will be broadcast live on the Lehigh web site as part of the GameCentral pay-per-view offering.

Mountain Hawks welcome six newcomers to 2012 roster
Coach Bob Bertucci opens up his 2012 season with six freshmen that look to add depth and energy to Lehigh’s volleyball program. Freshmen Claire Bradshaw, Katie Troyan, Stephanie Slater, Amy Matula, Leah Turner and Ana Vrhel are making the transition from high school to collegiate athletics as part of the Mountain Hawks’ Class of 2016.

Season Preview: Lehigh seeks Patriot League title in 2012
Lehigh looks to build on last year’s success to chase the Patriot League crown in 2012. After winning 10 of their last 12 matches in 2011, the Mountain Hawks earned the #3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament but came up short. With the return of two-time first team All-Patriot League performer Taylor Poole and 2011 Patriot League Libero of the Year Rachel Charles, Lehigh is primed for a deep postseason run.

Lehigh picked third in preseason poll, Poole named preseason All-League
The Lehigh women’s volleyball team is predicted to finish third in the Patriot League preseason poll, receiving 71 points, while senior Taylor Poole was selected to the preseason All-League team. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a third place finish in 2011 (19-10, 10-4 Patriot League), earning the #3 seed in their first trip to the Patriot League Tournament since 2009. Lehigh returns its first team All-Patriot League selection in Taylor Poole and also Libero of the Year Rachel Charles.

Lehigh volleyball begins preseason practice
The Lehigh volleyball team kicked off preseason practice over the weekend, looking to build off last season’s strong 19-win campaign. After meetings on Friday, the Mountain Hawks hit the courts Saturday before a team getaway Sunday which included hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities. Lehigh is looking to advance to its second straight Patriot League Tournament and third in the past four seasons.

Bertucci announces 2012 volleyball schedule
Lehigh head volleyball coach Bob Bertucci has announced the team’s 2012 schedule, which features four matches against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams and September trips to Virginia and Texas for prestigious tournaments. Coming off a 19-win season, the Mountain Hawks will face National Semifinalist Southern California along with NCAA Tournament qualifiers Delaware, Western Kentucky and American, to highlight an impressive slate.

Lehigh holds annual Hall of Fame induction banquet and ceremony
Lehigh held its annual Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall Fame banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday April 28, 2012 on the university’s Asa Packer Campus. Volleyball standout Kim (Freedman) Kellow ’99 was inducted following her election in the class of 2011, while former swimming and diving coach and director of admissions Bruce Gardiner and University Board of Trustees Chairman and former lacrosse student-athlete Dan Smith ’71 were inducted as part of a special election process.

Kim Kellow '99 to be inducted into Lehigh Hall of Fame April 28
Lehigh Athletics will hold its annual Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet on Saturday, April 28. In addition to the three special inductees in the class of 2012, former volleyball standout Kim (Freedman) Kellow '99 will be formally inducted after being selected to the Hall of Fame last year.

Charles selected for U.S. Women’s National A2 Program
Lehigh volleyball sophomore libero Rachel Charles has been selected as one of 48 scholar-athletes to participate in this summer’s U.S. Women’s National A2 Team Program. Training begins June 26 at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus while the matches will be held June 30 to July 4 during the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC) at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Lehigh looks back at successful season at annual banquet
The Lehigh volleyball team marked the end of its season with its annual banquet on Sunday, Jan. 15 in the University Center. Three prestigious awards were presented to student-athletes who excelled, both on and off the court. The program included dinner, an awards presentation and time for reflection by coaches and players.

Nine Mountain Hawks named to League Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh volleyball team placed nine student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the second most of any team in the League. The Mountain Hawks had a historic year on the court en route to earning a No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, its highest seed since 2003. Lehigh was equally successful off the court as the nine named to the Honor Roll had an average GPA of 3.45.
