BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Fran Troyan has announced the addition of former Villanova standout pitcher Caitlyn Delahaba to the Mountain Hawks’ softball coaching staff. She joins the two-time defending Patriot League champions following an outstanding four-year career for the Wildcats.

“We are very excited to have Cailtyn as part of the Lehigh softball family,” said Troyan.  “Caitlyn has a tremendous softball pedigree at the high school, club and collegiate level.  It is also helpful that her academic experience at Villanova is quite similar to that of a Lehigh student-athlete.”

Delahaba graduated from Villanova in the spring as the Wildcats’ career leader in wins with 75, while also ranking third in career strikeouts with 660. Her 55 victories rank fifth in school history.

As a senior, Delahaba was the Wildcat’s top pitcher, as she appeared in 38 games, going 18-15 with a 2.72 ERA. Delahaba threw 18 complete games, including two shutouts and struck out 143 batters in 195.1 innings of work.

Villanova’s team leader in appearances in all four of her seasons with the Wildcats, Delahaba was named to the Big East honor roll on three occasions, and excelled in the classroom, as she was named a Big East Academic All-Star as a freshman. Delahaba earned her degree in communications last spring.

Prior to her time at Villanova, the Ashburn, Virginia native enjoyed a stellar high school career at Broad Run High School, going 27-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 10 no-hitters and four perfect games as a senior as her team went undefeated and captured a state championship. Delahaba was also an EA Sports first team All-American in 2008 and the 2008 Gatorade Player of the Year in Virginia.

Delahaba joins a coaching staff that returns assistants Stephanie Covelle and Dave Bender for the 2013 season. The Mountain Hawks will begin their fall season in September.
