Softball lands seven on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

Posted: 06/20/2012
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2012 season was another successful one for the Lehigh softball team, as the Mountain Hawks won their 12th Patriot League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the eighth time. It was also a strong year academically as seven Mountain Hawks were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.20 or higher grade-point average during the academic semester which coincides with her sport. The league announced the Academic Honor Roll lists for all seven of its winter/spring sports Wednesday as part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX.

Senior Jen Colquhoun was voted Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball for the third straight year and went on to be named a first team Capital One Academic All-American. Colquhoun, the Patriot League Player of the Year, posted a 3.65 GPA in biochemistry in the spring.

Junior Rosie Roessel led all Patriot League softball student-athletes with a 3.94 GPA in the spring. Roessel majors in mathematics, and like Colquhoun was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team last month. Joining Colquhoun and Roessel on the Academic Honor Roll were seniors Tenley Halaquist and Audra Wood, sophomores Kelsey Lee and Lizzy Odren, and freshman Emily Bausher.

A total of 42 Patriot League softball student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

The Mountain Hawks went 40-19 in 2012 and won their seventh Patriot League title in the last nine years.
