Forecast forces Lehigh to delay start of 2013 season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh softball team will have to wait a little longer to open its 2013 season. Due to anticipated inclement weather in Greenville, N.C. the Mountain Hawks will not be participating in the ECU Pirate Invitational, which was scheduled to begin Friday morning.
The weekend forecast for Greenville calls for rain showers Friday and steadier rain through the day Saturday. The two-time defending Patriot League Champion Mountain Hawks were scheduled to play five games in three days, taking on Liberty, ECU (twice), Fairfield and Notre Dame. Weather permitting the remaining four teams are planning to play a revised schedule on Friday.
The Mountain Hawks will now open their season at the TU Invitational, March 1-3 in Towson, Md. Lehigh will meet Columbia and Towson on Friday March 1, with first pitch for game one set for 12:45. The Mountain Hawks will face Columbia and Iona on Saturday before wrapping things up against Iona on Sunday March 3.
