Posted: 03/04/2013
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two members of the Lehigh softball team earned Patriot League weekly honors Monday for their efforts in Lehigh’s season-opening games at the Towson Invitational over the weekend. Sophomore Emily Bausher was named Pitcher of the Week while freshman Morgan Decker was named Rookie of the Week.

Bausher was named Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one earned run in nine innings over two appearances. She also recorded nine strikeouts over two games, picking up a win in Lehigh’s 3-2 victory over Columbia where she allowed just two unearned runs in five innings while striking out six in the Mountain Hawks darkness-shortened win. Bausher earned the second Pitcher of the Week award of her career. She was a six-time Rookie of the Week in 2012.

Decker earned Rookie of the Week honors after hitting safely in four of her first five college games. She tied for the team-lead with four RBI and had both RBI in the team’s win over Columbia on Saturday. Decker also scored four runs and posted a .579 on-base percentage in five games, after drawing six walks and being hit by a pitch in addition to her four hits.

Lehigh went 3-1-1 in five games at the Towson Invitational, winning two one-run ballgames against Columbia and closing out the weekend with a 6-2 win over Iona. The Mountain Hawks also played host Towson to a 4-4 tie.

The Mountain Hawks were scheduled to play Temple in a doubleheader Wednesday but those games have been cancelled due to expected inclement weather. Lehigh will next head south to Florida for spring break to play ten games in six days at the Rebel Spring Games. Action starts with a pair of games against Eastern Illinois and North Dakota on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
