Lehigh opens Patriot League Tournament with 2-0 shutout of Lafayette
Freshman Emily Bausher went the distance on a two-hitter and seniors Jen Colquhoun and Julie Fernandez each drove in a run as Lehigh opened the Patriot League Tournament with a 2-0 shutout of Lafayette Thursday at Kaufman Field. With the win Lehigh (38-17) moves into the winner’s bracket where the Mountain Hawks will face Army Friday at 11 a.m.

Mountain Hawks set to host Patriot League Tournament
The Lehigh softball team seeks its second straight Patriot League tournament title and sixth in the last eight years as the Mountain Hawks host the 2012 Patriot League tournament at Kaufman Field. With a 37-17 overall record and 18-2 league mark, the Mountain Hawks won their 17th Patriot League regular season title and will host the tournament for the first time since 2009 as Lehigh seeks a 12th tournament title and eighth NCAA Regional appearance.

Colquhoun earns third straight Scholar-Athlete of the Year award
For the third consecutive year, Lehigh senior shortstop Jen Colquhoun has been voted the Patriot League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball, it was announced Tuesday. On a day when she was also named Patriot League Player of the Year, Colquhoun becomes the first Patriot League student-athlete to be named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in three consecutive seasons.

Lehigh garners two major awards; nine named to All-Patriot League teams
The Patriot League announced its softball All-League teams and major award winners on Tuesday and regular season champion Lehigh is well represented. Senior shortstop Jen Colquhoun was named the league’s Player of the Year, leading nine Mountain Hawks who were named to the All-League teams. Head coach Fran Troyan also garnered his fourth career Coach of the Year award.

Schedule, broadcast info finalized for Patriot League softball tournament
After capturing its 17th Patriot League softball regular season title, Lehigh will host the 2012 Patriot League Softball Tournament, beginning Thursday at Kaufman Field. The Mountain Hawks are the defending tournament champions and the No. 1 seed as they will open up against No. 4 seed and arch rival Lafayette Thursday at noon.

Softball senior duo garners Academic All-District honors
The Lehigh softball team is currently finishing up work in final exams as the Mountain Hawks look to defend their Patriot League tournament title next week. On Thursday, two Lehigh standouts were named to the Capital One Academic All-District II team. Shortstop Jen Colquhoun was named to the team for the third straight year, while first baseman Julie Fernandez earns Academic All-District honors for the first time.

Three from Lehigh honored by LVAIAW
Three Mountain Hawks were recognized Tuesday at the annual LVAIAW (Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) awards luncheon at Starters Riverport. Seniors Genna Pepe (soccer) and Katherine Pierce (track & field/cross country) were recognized within their respective sports while Julie Fernandez (softball) was named the Outstanding Athlete at Lehigh.

Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Fernandez, Bliss honored as Lehigh clinches regular season title
The Lehigh softball team clinched its 17th Patriot League regular season title with two wins over Army on Sunday. On Monday, two Mountain Hawks were recognized for their efforts with Patriot League weekly awards as senior Julie Fernandez was named Player of the Week and junior Rebecca Bliss was named Pitcher of the Week.

Lehigh sweeps DH from Army; claims league regular season title
It required a pair of seventh-inning home runs but the Lehigh softball team clinched the Patriot League regular season championship after sweeping a doubleheader from Army Sunday at the Army Softball Complex. Senior Julie Fernandez broke a 2-2 tie with a solo shot to lift Lehigh to a 3-2 win in the opener, while junior Liz Lucas’ three-run blast propelled the Mountain Hawks to a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

Bliss, Fernandez power Lehigh to Saturday split at Army
After dropping the opening game of the series 2-0, the Lehigh softball team bounced back with a 6-0 shutout of Army Saturday at the Army Softball Complex. Junior Becca Bliss threw a two-hit shutout in the nightcap and senior Julie Fernandez went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Mountain Hawks, who improve to 35-17 on the season, and 16-2 in league games.

Regular season title at stake as Lehigh visits Army
Lehigh closes out the regular season this weekend with four games at Army, in a match-up of the top two teams in the Patriot League standings. At 34-16 overall and 13-1 in the league, the Mountain Hawks lead the Black Knights by two games in the standings. Lehigh needs just two wins this weekend to clinch the regular season title and earn the top seed and home field advantage for the upcoming Patriot League Tournament.

Mountain Hawks sweep Colgate with two more run-rule wins
The Lehigh softball team completed a four-game sweep of Colgate with a pair of five-inning mercy rule wins over the Raiders Wednesday at Kaufman Field. The Mountain Hawks erased a 2-0 deficit with ten unanswered runs to take the opener 10-2 and then won the nightcap 8-0 behind a two-hitter from junior Becca Bliss.

Bausher collects sixth Rookie of the Week award
Lehigh freshman pitcher Emily Bausher continued her outstanding rookie season, earning a league-record sixth Patriot League Rookie of the Week award, announced Monday. Bausher earned wins in both of her starts last week, a 3-1 win over Princeton Wednesday and a five-inning one-hitter in the Mountain Hawks’ 10-0 win over Colgate on Saturday.

Lucas' grand slam sparks Lehigh to doubleheader sweep of Colgate
In her first game against Colgate since belting three home runs in the 2011 Patriot League Championship game, junior Liz Lucas hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to propel Lehigh to a 4-3 win over the Raiders Saturday at Kaufman Field. Freshman Emily Bausher then fired a one-hitter as the Mountain Hawks captured the nightcap 10-0 in five innings.

Mountain Hawks ride strong pitching to DH sweep over Princeton
Junior Becca Bliss threw a complete game two-hitter and freshman Emily Bausher and sophomore Kelsey Lee added strong pitching performances as Lehigh swept a doubleheader from Princeton Wednesday at Kaufman Field. The Mountain Hawks took the opener 3-1 and won the nightcap 2-0 behind Bliss’ superb effort to improve to 30-16 on the season.

Lehigh hosts Princeton Wednesday in Fight Against Cancer! doubleheader
Lehigh (28-16, 11-1 PL) will host a doubleheader against the Princeton Tigers on Wednesday in the Mountain Hawks’ “Fight Against Cancer!” games. The Mountain Hawks will don pink uniforms for the doubleheader, which begins at 3:30 p.m. from Kaufman Field and will be collecting donations for the Fight Against Cancer!

Waggy named Patriot League Rookie of the Week
Following a tremendous week at the plate, Lehigh freshman Cassie Waggy has earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday. Waggy earned the honor for the second time this season, hitting .471 as Lehigh split a midweek doubleheader at Northeast power Hofstra before taking three-of-four at Holy Cross to clinch a Patriot League Tournament berth.

Lehigh splits Sunday doubleheader at Holy Cross
The Lehigh softball team split a doubleheader at Holy Cross Sunday, using an offensive outburst to win game one, 10-0, before the Crusaders rallied in the bottom of the seventh in game two. With the split, the Mountain Hawks (28-16, 11-1 Patriot League) officially clinched a league tournament berth. Senior Julie Fernandez led the charge in game one, going 3-for-3 with four RBI.
