Lehigh wraps up fall slate with strong showing at Frostbite Regatta
The Lehigh rowing team used a strong all-around effort at Saturday’s Frostbite Regatta as the Mountain Hawks garnered numerous medals in the final race of the fall season. The Varsity Eights had especially strong showings as the men placed second (6:27.45) and women fourth (7:32.34). In total, Lehigh had nine top-three finishes.

Lehigh wraps up fall slate at Frostbite Regatta this weekend
The Lehigh rowing team will wrap up its fall schedule on Saturday when it takes part in the Frostbite Regatta on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a two-week layoff after Hurricane Sandy forced the postponement of last weekend’s Rutgers Fall Classic.

Lehigh puts forth strong effort at Head of the Schuylkill
The Lehigh rowing team put forward a strong overall effort on Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks had numerous top 10 finishes, competing in six different events on the day. It marked the first action of the season for numerous crews, including all the freshmen.

Mountain Hawks head to the Head of the Schuylkill Saturday
Following its season-opening weekend at the Head of the Charles, the Lehigh rowing team will return to action on Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks will send a number of crews to the City of Brotherly Love after only two boats raced a week ago. A two-day regatta, all of Lehigh’s boats will race on Saturday.

The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up its weekend at the Head of the Charles with the Women’s Championship Eight racing Sunday. The Mountain Hawks competed in three different events over the weekend (also the Men’s Collegiate Fours and Men’s Alumni Eights) to kick off their 2012-13 season.

Rowing kicks off season at Head of the Charles this weekend
The Lehigh rowing team will kick off its 2012-13 season this weekend at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass. Three Mountain Hawks’ boats will compete, beginning with the Men’s Alumni Eight and Men’s Collegiate Four on Saturday followed by the Women’s Championship Eight on Sunday.

Lehigh places 93 women on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
As part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League announced all seven of its women’s winter/spring Academic Honor Rolls on Wednesday. Lehigh was well represented as the Mountain Hawks accounted for 93 of the over 650 women’s student-athletes named to the honor roll.

Women’s Rowing places 15 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
Fifteen members of the Lehigh women’s rowing team earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll released Wednesday. Leading the way were freshmen Corey Johnson and Alison Yirinec, who each posted perfect 4.00 GPAs last semester. In total, nine Mountain Hawks posted over a 3.50 including four with a 3.90 or higher.

Ten Lehigh teams receive APR public recognition awards
Ten Lehigh athletic teams were honored with Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday. Awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in their respective sport with their Academic Progress Rate (APR). This marks the fourth straight year that Lehigh has seen ten or more of its programs honored.

Women’s Freshmen Eight takes silver to highlight stellar Dad Vail Regatta
The women’s freshmen eight captured second place in the grand finals to highlight a sensational weekend for the Lehigh rowing team at the Dad Vail Regatta. The crew won its semifinal heat before coming in second with a time of 7:09.834. Meanwhile, both the Women’s and Men’s Varsity Eight placed sixth in the semifinals of their respective heats.

Three advance to semifinals in successful day at Dad Vail Regatta
Three Lehigh boats have advanced to day two of the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta following strong day one performances. The Women’s Freshmen Eight took first in its heat while Men’s Varsity Eight also advanced directly to the semifinals. Meanwhile, the Women’s Varsity Eight qualified for the repechage where it put forth an impressive effort to reach the semis. All three crews will row in the morning; the afternoon’s finals can be seen live on 6ABC and worldwide on ESPN3.com beginning at 1 p.m.

Mountain Hawks wrap up season at Dad Vail Regatta this weekend
The Lehigh rowing team will wrap up its spring season this weekend when it competes in the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The regatta is set for Friday and Saturday. For a second straight year, Saturday’s finals will air live on 6ABC in Philadelphia and streamed worldwide on ESPN3.com.

Just one day after earning her third straight All-Patriot League honor, senior Jackie Ogden was named Academic All-League for a second straight season, as announced by the league on Thursday. Ogden has led the Mountain Hawks as a three-time team captain and four-year member of the Varsity Eight.

Ogden earns third straight All-Patriot League Honor
Senior Jackie Ogden has been named an All-Patriot League honoree for a third straight year, as announced by the league on Wednesday. A three-time captain, Ogden again led the Varsity Eight which impressed throughout the season, including a win over Lafayette to capture the River Cup. Overall, the Mountain Hawks placed fifth in the Patriot League Championships, one spot higher than last year.

Lehigh places fifth at Patriot League Championship Sunday
The Lehigh women’s rowing team placed fifth Sunday in the Patriot League Championship with nine points. The Mountain Hawks’ finish was one place higher than last year. The women’s 2V 8+ boat placed fifth with a time of 7:29.91 while the women’s varsity 4+ placed sixth with a time of 9:41.09 and the women’s varsity 8+ had an impressive race with a time of 7:22.89.

In the midst of a strong spring season, the Lehigh women’s rowing team heads to the Patriot League Championships on Sunday. The regatta will begin at 8 a.m. on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The Mountain Hawks look to build off momentum from last week’s win over Lafayette and improve on last year’s league championship campaign which saw them nearly double the previous year’s output.

Lehigh heads to Neuweiler Plate this weekend
Following a solid start to its season, the Lehigh rowing team will head to the Neuweiler Plate on Saturday looking to defend its championship from a year ago. The regatta will begin at 10 a.m. at Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, Pa. The Mountain Hawks won the Neuweiler Plate last season by winning five races while placing in five others. Lehigh looks to recapture the magic of that regatta while building on strong efforts from last weekend’s Murphy Cup.

Lehigh opens spring with solid showing at Murphy Cup
The Lehigh rowing team began its spring season on Saturday with a solid all-around showing at the 30th annual Murphy Cup Regatta. The Mountain Hawks saw the Women’s Collegiate Novice 8+ boat place fifth overall with a time of 8:31.27 while the Varsity Women’s 8+ placed 12th overall after taking sixth in the Petit Final. Lehigh also had one boat narrowly miss the grand final, by one spot.

Mountain Hawks wrap up successful training trip to Texas
The Lehigh rowing team traveled to Austin, Texas before classes started to kick off their winter training session. Austin Rowing Club hosted the group of 56 rowers and four coaches in a very productive week of training and technical work as the squad prepares for its first spring race on Mar. 24.
