Posted: 11/07/2012
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The latest honor of his impressive season was released today, as junior co-captain Tyler Mueller was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Mueller has been the leader of the Mountain Hawks’ strong 2012 campaign that includes the program’s first ever Patriot League title. Muller has been Lehigh’s top performer in four of the five races he has competed in, as well as earning a 3.35 GPA in the classroom as a bioengineering major.

The Pottstown, Pa. native won his first two meets of the season, taking the Lehigh Invitational and Lehigh-Lafayette Dual Meets en route to two Mountain Hawk meet wins. He followed those performances with a 19th-place finish in the 39th Annual Paul Short Run to help the Mountain Hawks to a ninth-place finish, their best in over a decade. The junior continued to pace Lehigh as he finished 54th at Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky. to aid the Mountain Hawks to 24th out of 40 teams that included nine nationally-ranked teams.
At the Patriot League Championships, Mueller finished seventh overall, earning first team All-Patriot League honors as Lehigh won its first Patriot League title in program history. On top of his on-course performances, Mueller is learning how to address and solve challenges in the fields of biology and medicine and create usable, tangible products as a Bioengineering major. He is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and earned the Faculty Athletics’ Council Award for a GPA higher than 3.2 three times.
