Lehigh places third in Patriot League Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s cross country team finished third in the Patriot League Championships, hosted by the Mountain Hawks on a snowy Saturday on the Goodman Campus. Senior Evans Kosgei was the first Lehigh runner to finish, coming in fourth with a time of 25:15.50 to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors.
"I give Evans a lot of credit," said head coach Todd Etters. "He wanted the win and ran a tough race. I’m awfully proud of him."
Navy won the men’s Patriot League Championship with a score of 38. American was second (49) followed by Lehigh (78), Army (94), Bucknell (108), Colgate (167), Lafayette (211) and Holy Cross (215).
Sophomore Sam Bernitt was next up behind Kosgei, placing 15th (25:38.90). He was followed by junior Lyle O’Brien in 17th (25:41.20), sophomore Jimmy Miller in 18th (25:41.80) and sophomore Tyler Mueller in 25th (25:56.00).
"I thought we ran pretty well," said Etters. "Our two-to-five pack really ran outstanding."
Freshman Simon Voorhees and senior Evan Flach rounded out Lehigh’s top seven finishers, coming in 44th (26:42.30) and 48th (26:50.00), respectively. For the complete men’s results, please click here.
Lehigh returns to action in two weeks when it competes in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers in Princess Anne, Md.
