Kosgei named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh’s Evans Kosgei has been named a member of the 2010 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Cross Country team. Kosgei, who is majoring in Computer Science and Engineering, is one of 56 members that were nationally recognized.

There was a total of 56 student-athletes represent 42 institutions that compose the group. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2010.
Kosgei wrapped up a stellar season by finishing 112th out of 246 runners at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Indiana State. The Mountain Hawks’ first ever men’s qualifier in the new selection format, he became Lehigh’s first runner to compete at NCAA’s since Jen Schappert in 2005.

Kosgei finished the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:17.8, within seconds of cracking the top 100.

Kosgei was selected as an at-large qualifier for the NCAA Championships after finishing 13th at the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet with a time of 30:33. While there, he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a 15th place finish while the women came in ninth.
