The Lehigh men’s cross country team landed 15 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks’ 15 members were second in the league, as Lehigh featured six juniors, three sophomores and six freshmen among the academic honorees.
After winning its first Patriot League Championship in program history, the Lehigh men’s cross country team concluded its stellar season with its annual banquet held at the University Center on Sunday, December 9. The banquet consisted of a luncheon, awards presentation and a season reflection by head coach Todd Etters.
Two weeks after winning the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh men’s cross country team finished eighth out of 25 teams at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in University Park, Pa. The Mountain Hawks combined to score 254 points as sophomore Ryan Mahalsky finished as the top performer for the first time this season in 45th (31:31) in the 10K race.
In the midst of one of its best seasons in history, the Lehigh men’s cross country team will seek to build on its Patriot League Championships performance as the Mountain Hawks compete in this Friday’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers in University Park, Pa. at 12 p.m. Lehigh will be running in hopes for a return to Louisville, Ky. and a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships.
The latest honor of his impressive season was released today, as junior co-captain Tyler Mueller was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Mueller has been the leader of the Mountain Hawks’ strong 2012 campaign that includes the program’s first ever Patriot League title. Muller has been Lehigh’s top performer in four of the five races he has competed in, as well as earning a 3.35 GPA.
