2012 Patriot League Champions reflect on historic season at annual banquet
After winning its first Patriot League Championship in program history, the Lehigh men’s cross country team concluded its stellar season with its annual banquet held at the University Center on Sunday, December 9. The banquet consisted of a luncheon, awards presentation and a season reflection by head coach Todd Etters.

Lehigh tied for second in initial Presidents' Cup standings
The Patriot League announced its initial Presidents’ Cup standings on Tuesday with Lehigh tied for second overall at the completion of the fall season. Lehigh checks in with 32 points and tops the men’s overall standings with 16 points. The Mountain Hawk women are tied for fifth place with 16 points.

Lehigh takes eighth at Mid-Atlantic Regionals
Two weeks after winning the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh men’s cross country team finished eighth out of 25 teams at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in University Park, Pa. The Mountain Hawks combined to score 254 points as sophomore Ryan Mahalsky finished as the top performer for the first time this season in 45th (31:31) in the 10K race.

Lehigh men finish eighth, while women take 15th at Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers
Competing against an immensely talent field of competition, the Lehigh men’s and women’s cross country teams took home eighth and 15th, respectively, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers in University Park, Pa. The top finishers for the Mountain Hawks on the day were sophomore Ryan Mahalsky (31:31) in 45th and senior Julia Perry (22:14) in 62nd.

Lehigh to compete at Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers Friday
In the midst of one of its best seasons in history, the Lehigh men’s cross country team will seek to build on its Patriot League Championships performance as the Mountain Hawks compete in this Friday’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers in University Park, Pa. at 12 p.m. Lehigh will be running in hopes for a return to Louisville, Ky. and a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships.

Mueller earns Academic All-Patriot League team honors
The latest honor of his impressive season was released today, as junior co-captain Tyler Mueller was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Mueller has been the leader of the Mountain Hawks’ strong 2012 campaign that includes the program’s first ever Patriot League title. Muller has been Lehigh’s top performer in four of the five races he has competed in, as well as earning a 3.35 GPA in the classroom as a bioengineering major.

Lehigh men capture first Patriot League title in program history
Led by junior co-captain Jimmy Miller, the Lehigh men’s cross country team won its first ever Patriot League championship behind three top 10 finishes for a two-point victory over the Navy Midshipmen. Miller crossed the line in 25:41.3 for a fourth-place finish, as sophomore Ryan Mahalsky (25:42.8) took fifth and junior co-captain Tyler Mueller finished seventh (25:47.1). The Mountain Hawks scored a combined 54 points, edging Navy’s 56 for the title.

Men win first title, while women finish fourth at PL Championships
Led by junior co-captain Jimmy Miller, the Lehigh men’s cross country team won its first ever Patriot League championship behind three top 10 finishes for a two-point victory over the Navy Midshipmen. On the women’s side, senior Julia Perry helped the Mountain Hawks to a fourth-place finish, their best since taking third in the 2008 Patriot League Championships.

Lehigh to run for Patriot League Championship
After a 24th-place finish in a star-studded field at the Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky., the Lehigh men’s cross country team will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to compete in the Patriot League Championships hosted by Colgate on the Harry H. Lang course. Lehigh will be in search of its first Patriot League Championship as the Mountain Hawks have come as close as second in 1992, falling just 21 points shy of Bucknell.

Lehigh finishes 24th and 13th at Pre-Nationals and Princeton Invitational
Through a field of 40 teams that included multiple nationally-ranked squads, the Lehigh men’s cross country team finished 24th at the 2012 NCAA Pre-Nationals race on the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park course on Saturday. The men’s team split its squad as seven Mountain Hawks competed at Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky. while the rest of the team traveled to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational in which the men finished 13th out of 24 squads.

Mountain Hawks split squad for Pre-Nationals and Princeton Invitational
After a ninth place finish in the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, the Lehigh men’s cross country team will travel to Louisville, Ky. and Princeton, N.J. to take part in the Pre-Nationals and Princeton Invitational this weekend. The Mountain Hawks will split as eight will compete in a field that features nine nationally-ranked teams at Pre-Nationals, including No. 3 BYU and No. 9 Tulsa, while the rest will compete at the Princeton Invitational.

Rauch Fieldhouse renovations feature Wall of Champions unveiling
A crowd of nearly 250 gathered at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday, September 29 to celebrate the facility’s renovations and to honor alumnus Ken Jones ’83. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by current and former track and field athletes and coaches; and friends, family members, and fraternity brothers of Ken Jones, a former track and field student-athlete and member of Chi Psi fraternity, who passed away in May 2011.

Schwarzenberg earns Rookie of the Week honors
Freshman Peter Schwarzenberg was named the Patriot League Cross Country Male Rookie of the Week after his 16th place finish in the Paul Short Run men’s Open 8K on Friday. Schwarzenberg powered through the mud and rain to obtain the 21st-best time of all freshman runners across all races and the sixth-best time among Lehigh performers.

Lehigh finishes ninth in 39th Paul Short Run
The Lehigh men’s cross country team continued its impressive season with a ninth place finish in the men’s college Gold 8K run at the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks on the Goodman Campus Course. Junior co-captain Tyler Mueller was the Mountain Hawks’ top finisher, placing 19th out of a field of 332 finishers with a time of 24:31. It was Lehigh’s best finish this decade after two 10th place finishes (2002 and 2005).

Lehigh completes 39th Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks
Lehigh University was the site of the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks as more than 5,000 athletes and 400 schools traveled from across the nation to compete in the prestigious event. The Lehigh men’s cross country team finished ninth in a field of 37 teams in the men’s college Gold 8K, its best finish of the decade, as the women’s cross country team took 30th of 40 in the women’s college Gold 6K.

Lehigh University will yet again be the site of one of the largest cross country meets in the nation when over 5,000 runners from over 400 teams will be in the spotlight as the 39th Annual Paul Short Run, presented by Brooks, kicks off on Friday morning. The all-day event will start at 10 a.m. with the Open Women’s 6K race and last until 5:45 p.m. Last year, the Lehigh men finished in 20th place out of 45 teams, while the women took home 24th out of 45 squads in the prestigious event.

39th Annual Brooks-Paul Short Run set to begin Friday on Goodman Campus

Lehigh continues streak to 14 consecutive victories over rival Lafayette
The men’s cross country team extended its streak to 14 consecutive dual meet victories over Lafayette on Friday night with a 16-47 victory over the rival Leopards. Junior co-captain Tyler Mueller won his second consecutive race to start the 2012 season, finishing the 8K run in 24:54 as the Mountain Hawks took four of the first five places narrowly missing a perfect score.

Mountain Hawks set to host Lafayette for dual meet
Fresh off its first place victory at the Lehigh Invitational on Aug. 31, the Lehigh men’s cross country team is seeking to defend its 13-straight dual meet winning streak against Lafayette when the Mountain Hawks host the Leopards this Friday on the Goodman Campus Course at 6:20 p.m. Junior co-captain Tyler Mueller won the Lehigh Invitational after finishing with a time of 18:24.70, while Lehigh finished three runners in the top five.

Cross country starts season with success at Lehigh Invitational
The Lehigh cross country teams kicked off their seasons at the Lehigh Invitational on Friday night on the Goodman Campus. The Mountain Hawk men took home the title behind first-place finisher Tyler Mueller (18:24.70), while the women finished second after placing three runners in the top 10 including Hannah Pierce who placed sixth with a time of 22:57.91.

Mountain Hawks take home Lehigh Invitational title
The Lehigh men’s cross country team took home the Lehigh Invitational title for the third consecutive year on Friday night after a team score of 29 points which included first-place finisher Tyler Mueller (18:24.70). Mountain Hawks hope to triumph Friday at Lehigh Invitational
The Lehigh men’s and women’s cross country teams will seek to defend their titles as the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Invitational this Friday at the Goodman Campus Course. Both teams won the event last year as the men finished with a perfect score of 15 points after they took places one through five. This season the women return five runners that placed inside the top 13 a year ago and hope a new team dynamic will lead them to victory yet again.

Eleven Mountain Hawks placed on PL Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh men’s cross country team has placed 11 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which is tied for the second most in the league. Sophomore business major Ryan Knouse led the Mountain Hawks with a 4.00 GPA while senior bioengineering major Evan Flach achieved a 3.96 GPA to cap off a stellar cross country season on and off the course.
