Posted: 05/10/2012
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In its final meet of the outdoor season, the Lehigh men’s track and field team will compete at the IC4A Championships Friday through Sunday in Princeton, N.J. The Mountain Hawks will send 21 student-athletes to the meet as they will try to qualify for the NCAA Regionals and earn All-East honors. Lehigh is coming off a fourth place finish at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships last weekend.

At the Championships, Lehigh had four Second Team All-Patriot League performances including two by Evans Kosgei. Kosgei placed second in the 10,000m run and the 3,000m steeplechase. He qualified for the IC4As in both events along with the 5000m run. Kosgei’s 3,000m steeplechase time of 8:52.41, which he achieved at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton might be good enough to already qualify him for the NCAA Regionals which will take place in Jacksonville, Fla. May 25-26.

The Mountain Hawks’ two other All-Patriot Leaguers are Seth Robinson and Kyle Forrest. Robinson finished second in the 400m hurdles and will compete in the same event at the IC4As this weekend along with the 110m hurdles. Forrest placed second in the decathlon with 6,531 points to qualify him for the IC4As.

Along with Kosgei, Robinson and Forrest, the rest of Lehigh’s IC4A qualifiers are: Adeolu Adesida, Samuel Bernitt, Mitchell Biler, Ifeanyi Edochie, Evan Flach, Justin Mahoney, Alexander Maurer, James Miller, Devin Monroe, Tyler Mueller, Lyle O’Brien, Martin Otieno, Daniel Paez, Ryan Paquin, Stephen Rumizen, Stephen Tutunjian, Christopher Watson and Kenneth Wilkinson. In addition to individual events, Lehigh’s 4X100m, 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams each qualified.

In last year’s IC4A Championships, Forrest placed 11th in the decathlon while Rumizen placed 13th in the high jump. Rumizen will again compete in the high jump this weekend as his current 2.09m mark is right on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.

The IC4A Championships will get underway Friday at 1 p.m. and start up again on Saturday at 9 a.m. and the final day of competition will be Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m.

All-East honors are given to performances that place in the top eight in an event.
