BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a fourth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, the Lehigh men’s track and field team will send 21 student-athletes to compete at the IC4A Championships this weekend in Boston, Mass. The meet will get underway Saturday at 11 a.m. and continue Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Among the men’s qualifiers will be All-Patriot Leaguers Stephen Tutunjian and Kyle Forrest.
Tutunjian was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet at the Patriot League Championships as he took first in the triple jump (7.10m) and long jump (14.71m) and will compete in both events this weekend.
Forrest took second in the heptathlon at the Championships with a personal best of 4,932 points while Ryan Paquin took third with a personal best of 4,814 points as they both will compete in the event this weekend.
Along with Tutunjian, six other Mountain Hawks will compete in two events this weekend. Devine Monroe and Martin Otieno will both compete in the 200-meter run and 4X400 meter-relay (they will be joined in the 4X400 by Paul Ciavardelli and Justin Mahoney).
Other two-event participants include Sam Bernitt (Mile, DMR), Kenny Wilkinson (4X800, DMR) and Dan Paez (4X800, DMR).
Evan Flach will compete in the mile along with Bernitt. Wilkinson and Paez will be joined in the 4X800-meter relay by Greg Caldwell and Chris Watson and in the DMR by Seth Robinson and Simon Voorhees.
Lehigh will have three runners in the 5,000-meter race in Evans Kosgei, James Miller and Tyler Mueller. And the Mountain Hawks will also have three participants in the high jump in Patrick Ciez, Lou Adesida, Steve Rumizen.
Lehigh finished 31st at last year’s IC4As as Kosgei, Ciez and Tutunjian earned All-East honors. Kosgei set the school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:18.91, winning his specific heat and finishing sixth overall. Ciez cleared 1.99 and 2.04 meters in the high jump to place seventh while Tutunjian placed fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.81 meters.
All-East honors are earned by finishing in the top eight in the event.
