Lehigh picked fourth in preseason poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s track and field team was picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced by the League Monday. The Mountain Hawks garnered 62 points in the poll. Lehigh finished fourth at the Patriot League Indoor Championships two out of the past three years including last season, but the Mountain Hawks will look to get over the hump in 2011-12.
Army scored 90 points with eight first-place votes to finish just ahead of Navy, which had 88 points and four first-place votes. Bucknell was third with 78 points and four first-place votes. After Lehigh, American was three points ahead of Lafayette with 46. Colgate (26) was seventh and Holy Cross (15) was eighth.
At last year’s Championship, Navy finished first ahead of Army 171-165.
The indoor season opened this past weekend as Lehigh had a great first showing at the Season Opener with four first-place finishes including a pair of members who earned IC4A qualifying distances. Stephen Tutunjian won the triple jump with a distance of 14.56m while Patrick Ciez also qualified in the high jump with a distance of 2.04m
The Patriot League Indoor Championships will be February 17-19 at Bucknell University.
