Lehigh heads to Worcester for Patriot League Championships
The Lehigh men’s track and field team will head to Worcester, Mass. this weekend to compete in the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Mountain Hawks have had a stellar outdoor season and will look to continue to ride that momentum into the meet they have been training for all season. The Championships will begin Friday at 9 a.m. and start up again on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Kosgei wins second straight PL Track Athlete of the Week award
For the second consecutive week, senior Evans Kosgei was named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league Monday. Kosgei placed 10th in the Championship race of the 5000m event at the prestigious Penn Relays, posting an IC4A qualifying time while breaking a 36-year-old school record.

Lehigh celebrates 2011-12 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 30 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Mountain Hawks stellar at Penn Relays, Lehigh Games
The Lehigh men’s track and field team shined over the weekend as the Mountain Hawks competed in the prestigious Penn Relays and then hosted the Lehigh Games on Goodman Campus. There were many stellar performances highlighted by Evans Kosgei’s run in the 5000m Championship Race at the Penn Relays where he broke a 36-year-old school record.

Lehigh gears up for final weekend before PL Championships
The Lehigh men’s track and field team will compete in a pair of meets this weekend as the Mountain Hawks will head to the prestigious Penn Relays Thursday-Saturday while Lehigh will also host the Lehigh Games on Goodman Campus Friday-Saturday. Lehigh is coming off a pair of stellar weekends and will look to keep the momentum going into its final weekend before the Patriot League Championships.

Kosgei named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week
Senior Evans Kosgei was named the Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league Monday. Kosgei finished eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Memorial in Princeton, N.J. where he posted an IC4A time of 8:52.41. His time also set a new school record and could be good enough for a bid to the NCAA Championship.

Lehigh excels at Princeton and Moravian over the weekend
The Lehigh men’s track and field team excelled in a pair of meets over the week as the Mountain Hawks competed at the Larry Ellis Memorial hosted by Princeton and the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian. Several personal records were set while a school record which had been held for 10 years was broken.

Mahoney named Patriot League Rookie of the Week
Lehigh track and field freshman Justin Mahoney was named the Patriot League track and field rookie of the week, as announced by the league Monday. The North Baldwin, N.Y. native was part of the 4X100m relay team that took first at the Moravian College Coach Pollard Invitational with an IC4A qualifying time while the time also set a new meet record. Mahoney also finished second in the 400m dash.

Lehigh shines at pair of meets over the weekend
The Lehigh men’s track and field team had a successful weekend at a pair of unscored meets. At the Bucknell Outdoor Classic, the Mountain Hawks had three event winners while four qualified for IC4As. At the Pollard Invitational at Moravian, Lehigh had some standout performances highlighted by the 4x100m relay team that set the meet record.

Lehigh competes in pair of meets this weekend
Coming off a dual meet victory of rival Lafayette last weekend, the Lehigh men’s track and field team will split its squad for a pair of meets this weekend. Part of the team will head to Moravian for the 2012 Pollard Invitational on Friday and Saturday while the rest of the squad will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for Bucknell’s Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

Mountain Hawks defeat Lafayette, 112-91
The Lehigh men’s track and field team enjoyed a strong effort at Lafayette Saturday, defeating the archrival Leopards in a dual meet, 112-91. The Mountain Hawks won 10 events on the day to continue their success against Lafayette; it’s been two full years since the squad’s last loss to the Leopards (including indoor and outdoor).

Lehigh faces Lafayette Saturday in dual meet
The Lehigh men’s track and field team is set to visit Lafayette this Saturday to faceoff in a dual meet with action getting underway at 12:00 p.m. Lehigh swept the indoor dual meet with Lafayette in January as the Mountain Hawks haven’t lost to the Leopards in outdoor or indoor competition since April 2010.

Lehigh places fourth at Lafayette 7 Way Sunday
The Lehigh men’s track and field team placed fourth at the Lafayette 7 Way Sunday with 93 points. Christopher Buck won the hammer throw and also placed second in the shot put. Alexander Maurer won the long jump and had a second place in the high jump. Martin Otieno won his section in the 100m dash while Robert Hugin won his section in the 400m hurdles.

Mountain Hawks have stellar results at Winthrop Invite
The Lehigh men’s track and field team had some stellar performances at the Winthrop Invite over the weekend as the Mountain Hawks won a pair of events and had three second place finishes. The two victories came from senior Stephen Rumizen in the high jump and senior Kyle Forrest in the decathlon.

Lehigh set to compete in pair of weekend meets
Lehigh men's track and field team will compete in two meets over the weekend. Part of the team will participate in the Winthrop Invitational in Winthrop, SC on Friday and Saturday. And then on Sunday, the other part of the team will compete in the Lafayette 7 Way Invitational. The meets will be Lehigh’s second and third events of the outdoor season.

Lehigh opens spring with impressive showing at Big 5 Invite
The Lehigh men’s track and field team opened up its spring season Saturday with some impressive performances at the Big 5 Invitational, hosted by Penn. Ricky Okoye won the discus throw with an IC4A-qualfying distance of 45.72m while Donald Scatena took home his first collegiate victory as he placed first in the pole vault with a distance of 4.40m. Lehigh also had three second-place finishes.

Lehigh kicks off outdoor season Saturday at Big 5 Invite
The Lehigh men’s track and field teams will kick of its outdoor season Saturday at the second annual Big 5 Invitational in Philadelphia, hosted by Penn. The Mountain Hawks will compete against the likes of host Penn, Villanova, LaSalle, Temple, Columbia, and Haverford. The field portion of the invite will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the track events are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.

Mountain Hawks picked fourth in PL Outdoor Preseason Poll
With the 2012 outdoor season ready to get underway, the Lehigh men’s track and field team has been picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced by the league Thursday. The Mountain Hawks garnered 61 points to finish behind Bucknell (94), Navy (89) and Army (75). Lehigh will kick off its outdoor season Saturday at the Big 5 Invitational, hosted by Penn.

Tutunjian earns All-East honors at IC4A Championships
Lehigh track and field senior Stephen Tutunjian concluded his stellar winter season by earning All-East honors at the IC4A Championships Sunday in Boston, Mass. Tutunjian placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.93 meters to earn All-East honors for the second straight year.

Lehigh sends 21 to IC4A Championships this weekend
After a fourth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago, the Lehigh men’s track and field team will send 21 student-athletes to compete at the IC4A Championships this weekend in Boston, Mass. The meet will get underway Saturday at 11 a.m. and continue Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Among the men’s qualifiers will be All-Patriot Leaguers Stephen Tutunjian and Kyle Forrest.
