Mountain Hawks continue to earn preseason recognition

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team was featured by Lacrosse Magazine on Monday as it counts down the nation’s top teams heading into the 2013 season. The Mountain Hawks were ranked 10th by the publication, this after Lehigh ranked eighth in Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook and 13th by the Coaches. The defending Patriot League Champions are less than three weeks away from their season opener vs. Saint Joseph’s.
LaxMagazine.com ranks each of Lehigh’s units, identifies its top returner, X-factor and more.
As stated, in its “best case,” the article reads: “The Mountain Hawks take advantage of their experience, rock-solid defense and proven scoring punch and make their second NCAA tournament, whether or not they win the Patriot League again. The road takes them close to home in Philadelphia for the school's first final four.”

Along with being ranked #8 by Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook, the Mountain Hawks were #1 in the publication’s Patriot League Preseason Poll while senior David DiMaria, Noah Molnar, junior Ty Souders and sophomore Matt Poillon were named to the All-League team. Lehigh’s defense and attack were both ranked among the nation’s best units, coming in fifth and 10th, respectively. Eight of the Mountain Hawks’ games were included among 2013 games to watch: at Villanova, Denver, vs. Penn State, at Army, vs. UMass, Navy, Colgate and at Bucknell.
Lehigh is more than a week into preseason practice in preparation for the 2013 season as it looks to build off a 14-3 season which included its first Patriot League Tournament Title and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Mountain Hawks open the season on Saturday, Feb. 9 against Saint Joseph’s, who’s led by former Lehigh assistant Taylor Wray. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
