Lehigh made the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in five seasons with a 7 -9 record in 2011. The year ended in disappointing fashion against Bucknell, 13-5.
Most of the starters return, so coach Kevin Cassese hopes this is the season the Mountain Hawks can reach their first NCAA Tournament.
1. Defense a high priority
Though Lehigh ranked near the middle of Division I in its goals allowed average, the Mountain Hawks staff has made it a major point of emphasis to improve the team defense. It's basic stuff and nothing too intricate, according to Cassese, but the opening week of preseason practices was defense-heavy.
