Four from Lehigh men’s lacrosse named All-Americans
Seniors David DiMaria and Mike Noone, junior Ty Souders and sophomore Matt Poillon were all named USILA honorable mention All-Americans on Thursday as the postseason recognition for the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team continues. The four All-America honorees breaks the previous school record of three from last season. Souders and Poillon earn All-America recognition for a second straight season.

Four Mountain Hawks to play in North-South Game Friday
Lehigh seniors David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Ryan Snyder will suit up for the South on Friday for the 72nd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. Lehigh’s four representatives mark the most from any school nationally and break last year’s school record of three Mountain Hawks to play in the game.

Hess and Snyder named USILA Scholar All-Americans
Lehigh seniors Brian Hess and Ryan Snyder have been named USILA Scholar All-Americans, as announced on Tuesday. The two honorees were the most in the Patriot League, joining Army’s Brendan Buckley, Bucknell’s Mike Huffner and Colgate’s Peter Baum as five of the more than 90 individuals across Division I, II and III recognized.

Cassese set for role as ESPN guest analyst this weekend
Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will join Anish Shroff and analyst Mark Dixon in studio this weekend for the NCAA Quarterfinal games on Saturday and Sunday. It marks the second straight season that Cassese will serve as a guest analyst for the quarterfinals. The three will provide coverage before each game, at halftime and between contests as they break down all four games over the two days.

Big second quarter leads UNC past Lehigh in NCAA Tourney
The #10 nationally-ranked Lehigh men’s lacrosse team led 2-1 after a quarter, but #1 ranked and #5 seed UNC used a 5-0 surge in the second to take a lead that it wouldn’t relinquish as the Mountain Hawks fell 16-7 on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Matt Poillon was stellar between the pipes with a career-high 17 saves while senior David DiMaria ended a strong career with two goals and three assists.

Mountain Hawks head to UNC for NCAA First Round Saturday
The two-time defending Patriot League Champion and #10 nationally-ranked Lehigh men’s lacrosse team begins its second straight NCAA Tournament on Saturday when it heads to North Carolina to face the fifth-seeded and top-ranked Tar Heels. Lehigh draws North Carolina in NCAA Tournament Saturday
Following its second straight Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team learned Sunday night that it will head to #5 seed North Carolina for its NCAA First Round game Saturday. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN2.The Mountain Hawks will return to North Carolina where it defeated the Tar Heels last season. UNC and Lehigh enter the NCAA Tournament with the nation’s two longest active winning streaks at nine and seven games, respectively.

DiMaria named a 2013 Tewaaraton Award nominee
Lehigh senior attackman David DiMaria has been named a Tewaaraton Award nominee, as announced late last week. He is one of only 25 players nationally named a nominee for the sport’s highest honor. DiMaria, senior Dante Fantoni and sophomore Matt Poillon were originally named to the watch list in February.

#14/16 Lehigh wins second straight PL Title, 11-5 over Bucknell
The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to an 11-5 win over Bucknell to win its second straight Patriot League Championship on Sunday afternoon. Senior David DiMaria had two goals and three assists to finish with 10 points for the tournament and earn Tournament MVP honors. Lehigh became the first team since Navy in 2006-07 to win back-to-back Patriot League Titles.

#14/16 Lehigh dominates Colgate to advance to championship game
The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team went on an 8-0 run spanning nearly 26 minutes in the second and third quarters to reach the Patriot League Championship Game for the second straight year as the Mountain Hawks defeated Colgate 15-7 in a semifinal Friday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks built a 10-goal lead late in the third quarter and coasted to their 11th win of the season.

The #14/16 nationally-ranked and top-seeded Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will open the Patriot League Tournament on Friday when it hosts fourth-seeded Colgate. Lehigh sophomore goalie Matt Poillon has been named Patriot League Goalie of the Year for a second straight season, while six others joined him as All-League honorees, as announced on Tuesday. Taylor named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
Lehigh sophomore attackman Dan Taylor has earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors following Saturday’s 14-5 win over Patriot League rival Lafayette, as announced on Monday. Taylor had a hand in half of Lehigh’s goals, scoring a career-high four goals while adding three assists for a career-high seven points. It marks Taylor’s first Patriot League weekly award.

The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team jumped on archrival Lafayette early and often, closing the regular season with an impressive 14-5 on Saturday evening. Sophomore Dan Taylor had a monster game with a career-high four goals and seven points while David DiMaria posted three goals and three assists on his Senior Night. The defense allowed just two even strength goals on the evening as it’s allowed seven or fewer goals in six of its last seven games.

Dan and David DiMaria: Lacrosse Brotherhood
Dan was always a big, gifted defenseman while David was a late-blooming, smaller attackman. The DiMarias couldn’t be more different, yet alike in many ways. Both are in their final collegiate seasons, but took very different paths to where they are today. They’re trying to lead their respective squads — Duke and Lehigh — to the NCAA Tournament and maybe even a Championship Weekend matchup in Philadelphia with a National Title on the line.

In a heated rematch of last season’s Patriot League Championship Game, #18/19 Lehigh and Colgate combined for 23 goals and 20 penalties, but it was the Mountain Hawks who came up big when it mattered most. The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team took a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the game, but could only manage two more the rest of the way as UMass topped the #15/16 Mountain Hawks 6-4 on Wednesday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The #16/17 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team bounced back from a tough Colorado road trip by downing VMI on Saturday afternoon, 18-2. Four different Mountain Hawks recorded hat tricks, including senior David DiMaria who had three goals and four assists for his third seven-point game of the season. Senior Chris Rinaldi also scored his first-career goal in the first quarter and turned that into a hat trick of his own.

The #8/12 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team took a 7-6 halftime lead at #11 Denver, but the Pioneers exploded for 12 second-half goals to down the Mountain Hawks, 18-10 in the Frontier Face-Off Classic. #10/11 Lehigh picks up impressive road win over Villanova
The #10/11 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team used a 5-0 first-half run to create some distance before fending off a Villanova comeback attempt to earn a hard-fought 11-9 road win on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Mountain Hawks improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2000 as they also snapped a six game losing streak at Villanova and won there for the first time since 1997.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team opened a highly-anticipated 2013 season in a big way, downing visiting Saint Joseph’s 14-1 on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Senior David DiMaria led the way with a career-high six goals while classmate Dante Fantoni tied a career high with three assists and five points. The margin of victory marked Lehigh’s largest since last year’s 13-0 shutout of Manhattan.

Lehigh winter storm update: Saturday lacrosse events postponed
The strong winter storm that is expected to batter the northeast on Friday has forced the postponement of Saturday’s men’s lacrosse season-opener against Saint Joseph’s and the women’s lacrosse team’s scrimmage against La Salle. Both events will now take place on Sunday, beginning with the men’s lacrosse game, which will face-off at noon at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team opens a highly-anticipated season on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Saint Joseph’s. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. It will mark a homecoming of sorts for Saint Joe’s head coach Taylor Wray, who was an assistant at Lehigh for four seasons under Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. Dan Keating is on Wray’s staff as well after serving as volunteer assistant at Lehigh in 2010.

Lao-Gosneys star for Team USA in Champion Challenge victory
Former Lehigh standouts Roman and Cameron Lao-Gosney each scored a goal as the United States men’s national team defeated reigning national champion Loyola, 17-13 in the Champion Challenge on Sunday. Roman (wearing number 10) and Cameron (number nine) scored consecutive U.S. goals in just 1:01 to turn a 6-6 tie into an 8-6 halftime lead. In addition, Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese manned the sidelines as an assistant coach for the United States.

Fantoni, Molnar and DiMaria selected in Major League Lacrosse Draft
Lehigh men’s lacrosse seniors Dante Fantoni, Noah Molnar and David DiMaria were all selected in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on Friday night. Fantoni was picked 39th overall by the Denver Outlaws while Molnar went 45th to the Rochester Rattlers and DiMaria 46th to the Boston Cannons. The Mountain Hawks’ three draftees were most in the Patriot League, ahead of Army (2), Colgate (1) and Bucknell (1).

Games vs. UMass and Penn State to air on ESPN Family of Networks
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will have a pair of games on the ESPN Family of Networks this season, as announced on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks will host UMass Mar. 20 on ESPNU (and WatchESPN) as part of the network’s Wednesday Men’s Lacrosse Game of the Week, which debuts this season. Lehigh’s Independence Classic contest on Mar. 9 against Penn State is also set for ESPN3.
