Dan and David DiMaria: Lacrosse Brotherhood
Dan was always a big, gifted defenseman while David was a late-blooming, smaller attackman. The DiMarias couldn’t be more different, yet alike in many ways. Both are in their final collegiate seasons, but took very different paths to where they are today. They’re trying to lead their respective squads — Duke and Lehigh — to the NCAA Tournament and maybe even a Championship Weekend matchup in Philadelphia with a National Title on the line.

Poillon garners second straight Goalie of the Week honor
Lehigh men’s lacrosse sophomore Matt Poillon has been named the Patriot League Goalie of the Week for a second consecutive week and for the fourth time this season following the Mountain Hawks’ 11-7 win over Bucknell on Friday. Poillon posted 12 saves while allowing just seven goals in the win that clinched Lehigh the #1 seed and right to host the Patriot League Tournament.

#18/19 Lehigh tops #9/11 Bucknell 11-7 for PL Regular Season Title
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team clinched its first Patriot League regular season championship as the #18/19 Mountain Hawks downed #9/11 Bucknell 11-7 Friday night at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. With the win, Lehigh’s first in Lewisburg since 1998, the Mountain Hawks will host the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in school history Apr. 26 and 28.

#18/19 Lehigh heads to #9/11 Bucknell for first-place clash
Coming off its first three-game winning streak of the season, the #18/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team heads to Bucknell for a first-place showdown with the #9/11 Bison. Opening faceoff on Friday night is set for 7:30 p.m. The winner will clinch the Patriot League Regular Season Title and the right to host the entire league tournament later this month. Both sides enter with 4-0 league records while Colgate and Army have two losses apiece.

Noone and Poillon earn Patriot League weekly awards
A pair of Lehigh men’s lacrosse players have earned Patriot League weekly honors following Saturday’s 13-10 win over Patriot League foe Colgate, as announced on Monday. Senior Mike Noone earned Defensive Player of the Week and Matt Poillon garnered Goalie of the Week for their standout performances. Senior Dante Fantoni also earned honorable mention recognition for his efforts.

Big fourth quarter leads #18/19 Lehigh past Colgate, 13-10
In a heated rematch of last season’s Patriot League Championship Game, #18/19 Lehigh and Colgate combined for 23 goals and 20 penalties, but it was the Mountain Hawks who came up big when it mattered most. Lehigh broke an 8-8 tie after three quarters, outscoring Colgate 5-2 in the fourth for a big 13-10 win on Saturday in Goodman Stadium. The victory sets up a big showdown at Bucknell next Friday with the winner clinching the Patriot League Regular Season Title.

#18 Mountain Hawks host Colgate Saturday in Goodman Stadium
Riding two straight wins, the #18/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team remains home to host Colgate on Saturday. Opening faceoff is set for 11 a.m. in Goodman Stadium, Lehigh’s first game in its football stadium since hosting North Carolina in April of 2011. The rematch of last season’s Patriot League Championship Game will air live nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Telesco earns second straight Rookie of the Week award
Lehigh men’s lacrosse defenseman Tripp Telesco has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for a second consecutive week following the Mountain Hawks’ 12-7 win over Navy. Telesco posted a career high in groundballs (5) and caused turnovers (3) as the Lehigh defense held the Midshipmen to just seven goals and just four over the first 50:25.

#18 Lehigh cruises to 12-7 win over Navy
The #18 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-1 lead and wouldn’t look back as the Mountain Hawks downed Navy, 12-7 on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in Patriot League play. Twelve different Mountain Hawks recorded a point, led by sophomore Dan Taylor who recorded his third-career hat trick and classmate Patrick Corbett who added two goals.

The #18 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team returns home to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday to host Navy, looking to improve to 3-0 in Patriot League play. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a hard-fought 8-5 win at a much-improved Holy Cross team last Saturday. Lehigh plays three of its final four regular season games at home.

Telesco named Patriot League Rookie of the Week
Lehigh freshman defenseman Tripp Telesco has been named this week’s Patriot League Rookie of the Week after impressive performances against UMass and Holy Cross. Telesco finished the week with five groundballs and a caused turnover as he’s played a key role on the Mountain Hawk defense from day one.

#15/16 Mountain Hawks bounce back with 8-5 win at Holy Cross
The #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team bounced back from a tough midweek loss to UMass by posting an 8-5 win at a much-improved Holy Cross team Saturday. Senior David DiMaria led the offense with his 10th career hat trick while junior Ty Souders and freshman Tripp Telesco each posted three groundballs and a caused turnover on the defensive end. The Mountain Hawks improve to 6-4 and 2-0 in Patriot League play while the Crusaders fall to 4-4 and 1-2 in the league.

#15/16 Lehigh looks to bounce back at Holy Cross Saturday
Coming off a tough 6-4 loss to UMass on Wednesday, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team heads to Patriot League play the remainder of the season beginning with a trip to Holy Cross Saturday. Opening faceoff against the Crusaders is set for 3 p.m. Following Saturday’s game, the Mountain Hawks head home for three of the last four in the regular season.

Fast start not enough in 6-4 loss to UMass
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team took a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the game, but could only manage two more the rest of the way as UMass topped the #15/16 Mountain Hawks 6-4 on Wednesday evening at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Nationally televised on ESPNU as the Warrior Game of the Week, the Mountain Hawks were anchored by sophomore goalie Matt Poillon, who made 13 saves while junior Ty Souders had five groundballs and two caused turnovers to lead the defense.

Best Friends Manny, Fantoni Playing For Bragging Rights
“Playing Dante would be one of the greatest moments of my career,” said UMass senior attackman Will Manny. “Throughout the week, I’d be telling my defense the scouting report on him. I’d tell my defensemen to beat up on my man for 60 minutes, but after the game, he’s still my best friend.” That was two years ago.

#15/16 Lehigh wins Patriot League opener at Army 10-6
Senior Brian Hess paced the offense with his second-career hat trick while sophomore Matt Poillon made 12 saves between the pipes as the #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped Army 10-6 in its league opener Saturday. Five Mountain Hawks (5-3, 1-0 Patriot League) finished with double-figure points, and senior Ryan Snyder was stellar at the faceoff X, to help Lehigh get off to an early lead which it wouldn’t relinquish.

Senior Dante Fantoni and sophomore Dan Taylor paced the offense with five points apiece while sophomore Matt Poillon made 11 saves in goal as the #17/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped #12/13 Penn State, 12-10 in the Whitman’s Sampler Independence Classic Saturday at PPL Park. Lehigh took a 5-1 halftime lead, but the Nittany Lions scored eight of the next 10 goals to take a 9-7 fourth-quarter advantage.

#17/19 Lehigh faces #12/13 Penn State Saturday in Independence Classic
The #17/19 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team looks to bounce back from a hard-fought 6-4 defeat to #18 Penn when it heads to PPL Park for the Whitman’s Sampler Independence Classic against #12/13 Penn State. Faceoff is set for 5 p.m. It marks the third game of a tripleheader as Syracuse faces St. John’s at 12 p.m. and Penn takes on Villanova at 2:30. All three games will air live on ESPN3. The game will also air on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia via tape delay at 8:30 p.m.
