Lehigh’s game vs. Colgate set for CBS Sports Network
Lehigh men’s lacrosse’s game vs. Colgate will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network, as the Patriot League’s television package was announced on Monday. The game is set for Saturday, Apr. 6 at 11 a.m. It will be a rematch of last season’s Patriot League Championship Game, which the Mountain Hawks won 16-14.

Compitello selected by Denver in MLL Supplemental Draft
Lehigh men’s lacrosse assistant coach Tom Compitello was selected 15th overall by the Denver Outlaws in Wednesday’s Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft. Compitello played in two games last summer with the Hamilton Nationals, scoring two goals at Denver, where he will now call home. The Hauppauge, N.Y. native enjoyed a standout career at Stony Brook where he posted 146 points highlighted by his All-America junior campaign.

Six Mountain Hawks named Preseason All-Americans
Six Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts have earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors, as announced in its 2013 Face-Off Yearbook. Junior Ty Souders garnered Second Team honors while senior David DiMaria was named to the Third Team. In addition, seniors Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Noah Molnar, and sophomore Matt Poillon earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Lao-Gosneys to play for Team USA in Champion Challenge
Former Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney have cracked the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the eighth annual Champion® Challenge. The U.S. will play a pair of exhibitions, facing 2012 NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame on Saturday, Jan. 26 and then defending NCAA champion Loyola on Sunday.

Lehigh ranked eighth in 2013 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook
Coming off a historic 2012 season, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team is ranked eighth nationally in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Top 20, as released on Monday. The Mountain Hawks stand ahead of lacrosse powers Virginia (9), Denver (10), Colgate (11), UMass (12), Princeton (13) and Syracuse (14) as they look to carry the momentum into 2013.

Mountain Hawks to face Penn State in Independence Classic
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will face rival Penn State on Saturday, Mar. 9 in the Whitman’s® Sampler® Independence Classic, as announced by Inside Lacrosse on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks and Nittany Lions will face off at 5 p.m. in the third game of a tripleheader at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. Lehigh’s game will follow St. John’s vs. Syracuse at 12 p.m. and Penn vs. Villanova at 2:30 p.m.

Lehigh-Ohio State SF Fall Classic to be broadcast by LaxVision
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team’s fall ball finale against Ohio State on Sunday can be seen live online, as announced by LaxVision. Opening faceoff is set for 1:45 p.m. local time (4:45 p.m. Eastern) with pregame show set to begin 15 minutes prior. The game will air (for free) through The Lacrosse Network’s YouTube page at YouTube.com/TLN. It will be of television quality with Dan Matthews and former Virginia All-American Brett Hughes on the call.

Lehigh celebrates championship season at annual banquet
Following the program’s first ever Patriot League Tournament Championship, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team held its annual awards banquet on Sunday, Sept. 30. The luncheon included an awards ceremony where head coach Kevin Cassese announced the team’s annual award winners. Lao-Gosneys to participate in U.S. Scrimmage on Sunday
Recent Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney have been selected for a Team USA scrimmage as part of the Capital Lacrosse Classic on Sunday (Oct. 7). The Lao-Gosneys will showcase their talents alongside lacrosse’s biggest names. The event, which will take place at Landon School (Bethesda, Md.), will also feature Cornell, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins and Penn State facing off against each other.

Lehigh’s sixth annual Community Night a success
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team hosted its sixth annual Community Night on Friday, which saw nearly 100 youngsters come out and learn from the defending Patriot League Champion Mountain Hawks. The one-hour clinic has continued to grow, beginning with only 15 attendees six years ago to where it is today, as one of the most highly-anticipated fall events for both the Mountain Hawks and the Lehigh Valley community.

Mountain Hawks release 2013 schedule
Smith Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cassese announced the Mountain Hawks’ 2013 schedule on Thursday, which features four teams who finished in the top 15 of last season’s final Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Lehigh will play 14 regular season games, seven at home, five on the road and two at neutral sites, as the Mountain Hawks will face Denver, UMass and Colgate who all advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

Lehigh men’s lax announces fall schedule of events
Smith Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cassese announced the team’s action-packed 2012 fall schedule on Wednesday, which includes Alumni Weekend, the Nick Colleluori Classic and the San Francisco Fall Classic. Lehigh’s fall will be an active one, including the Sixth Annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic when the squad will face Hofstra and Robert Morris, along with the San Francisco Fall Classic vs. Ohio State. The events begin on Friday, Sept. 28 with Community Night and Alumni Weekend.

Mountain Hawks make a difference through community service project
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team took time out of its busy schedule last Wednesday to make a difference in the local community. As a team, the Mountain Hawks worked at South Mountain Park, hauling fallen tree limbs, logs and braches out of the main park areas, pavilions and the Frisbee golf course. The squad continues to pride itself in making a difference in the Bethlehem community.

Cassese to coach in ‘Duel in Denver’ this Saturday
Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will man the sidelines in Denver this Saturday (Sept. 8) when the U.S. National Team faces Canada in the “Duel in Denver.” It will mark the first time the current U.S. staff will coach together as they begin preparation for the 2014 FIL World Championships. United States’ head coach Richie Meade named his assistants in February, which includes Cassese, Dave Pietramala of Johns Hopkins and Jeff Tambroni of Penn State.

Taylor leads Mountaineers to Box Lacrosse Championship
Lehigh attackman Dan Taylor posted four goals and an assist in a decisive Game 7 Tuesday night to lead his Calgary Mountaineers to the Alberta Junior A Box Lacrosse Championship. The rising sophomore led the league in points (53) and assists (32) these playoffs while tying for third in goals (21). The Mounties advance to the Minto Cup: a four-team tournament featuring the top junior men’s lacrosse teams in Canada. It begins this Saturday in Whitby, Ontario.

Lao-Gosneys to play in first MLL game together Saturday
Former Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney will play their first Major League Lacrosse game together Saturday (Aug. 4) when the Hamilton Nationals host the Charlotte Hounds. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN3.com. It will mark the first time the two hit the field since Cameron was traded from the Hounds in mid-July. Roman will wear #11 and Cameron #26, the same number he wore for Charlotte.

Record 11 Mountain Hawks named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
A record 11 Lehigh student-athletes were recently recognized as recipients of the 2012 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award as named earlier this week by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Eight different Lehigh athletic programs are represented, including men’s and women’s cross country and track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s golf, women’s swimming and diving, women’s soccer and softball.

Limited spots left for Lehigh Valley Rising Sophomore Showcase
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse program announced that its Rising Juniors Showcase Camp set for July 26-28 is officially sold out, but there are still limited spots open for the Rising Sophomore Showcase beginning August 1. That camp will run Aug. 1-3, and is now open to rising juniors as well.

Lehigh men’s lax continues to gain attention heading into 2013
Following a tremendous season, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team has continued to earn impressive recognition by media outlets looking ahead to 2013. The Mountain Hawks have been ranked as high as fifth nationally (by Inside Lacrosse and Lacrosse Magazine) in early preseason rankings. Lehigh returns most of its roster in 2013, including All-American goalie Matt Poillon, its entire starting close defense and top two scorers.

Lehigh finishes near top of Capital One Cup Men’s Standings
Following a stellar athletics season, Lehigh has finished 32nd in the final Capital One Cup Men’s Standings. The Mountain Hawks garnered 24 points due to three top-10 finishes (football, wrestling and men’s lacrosse). Lehigh finished ahead of numerous power schools including Michigan, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Michigan State and much more.

Cameron Lao-Gosney traded to Hamilton, reunites with Roman
Former Lehigh standout and current Major League Lacrosse player Cameron Lao-Gosney was traded from Charlotte to Hamilton on Tuesday and in doing so, was reunited with twin brother Roman, who’s currently on the Nationals. Both Lao-Gosneys have enjoyed success early in their professional careers, seeing significant action as two-way midfielders.

Lehigh places 18 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team placed 18 members on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Tuesday. Junior Baxter Lanius and freshman Klay Heston each posted perfect 4.00 GPAs this spring while five Mountain Hawks earned semester GPAs of 3.50 or higher.

Lehigh to face Ohio State in Fourth Annual Fall Classic in San Francisco
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will take part in a showcase event this October as the Mountain Hawks will face Ohio State in the fourth annual San Francisco Fall Lacrosse Classic Presented by Levi’s®. The tilt with the Buckeyes is set for Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m. inside Kezar Stadium. The Fall Lacrosse Classic has drawn top programs Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Denver, Harvard and Brown, along with thousands of Northern California lacrosse fans over its first three years.

Poillon named top freshman by Inside Lacrosse
Lehigh men’s lacrosse goalie Matt Poillon was named the nation’s top freshman in Inside Lacrosse’s Final Freshmen Rankings released Thursday. Poillon, who also earned the top spot in the early-season rankings, finished second nationally in goals against average (6.75) and fourth in save percentage (59.7). He tied a career-high 16 saves in the NCAA Tournament vs. Maryland, stopping all six third-quarter shots sent his way.

Cameron Lao-Gosney signs with Charlotte of Major League Lacrosse
Just one week after Roman Lao-Gosney was picked up by Hamilton of Major League Lacrosse, twin brother Cameron signed with the Charlotte Hounds Monday evening. Cameron wrapped up a stellar career with 111 points (77 goals, 34 assists) while twice earning All-Patriot League distinction. He could see action as early as this Saturday when the Hounds host Boston at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Roman Lao-Gosney picked up by Hamilton Nationals
Former Lehigh midfielder Roman Lao-Gosney was claimed by the Hamilton Nationals Wednesday as part of the Major League Lacrosse Waiver Wire. Lao-Gosney enjoyed a stellar senior season, earning Third Team All-America honors after posting a career-high 26 points (20 goals, six assists). Teams had the opportunity to place waiver claims on anyone not selected in the 2012 Collegiate Draft and who registered for the MLL Player Pool.

Mountain Hawks lead South to 15-14 win in North-South Game
Adam Johnston scored a pair of goals while Cameron Lao-Gosney added one to help lead the South All-Stars past the North,15-14, last Friday at Harvard Stadium. Roman Lao-Gosney also took part while Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese co-coached the South with good friend Shawn Nadelen of Towson. The three players marked a school record as now five Mountain Hawks have participated over the past two seasons.

Lao-Gosney, Souders and Poillon named USILA All-Americans
Senior Roman Lao-Gosney, sophomore Ty Souders and freshman Matt Poillon were named All-Americans on Thursday, as announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Lao-Gosney and Souders earned a spot on the third team while Poillon garnered honorable mention status. They become Lehigh’s first All-American since Jeff Jenkins in 1994 while tying for the most honorees in program history (previously in 1925).

Record three Mountain Hawks to play in North-South Game Friday
A school-record three Lehigh men’s lacrosse seniors will suit up for the South on Friday in the 71st annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game at Harvard Stadium in Boston. Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney, along with Adam Johnston, were all selected following tremendous collegiate careers. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. after the Division III game at 3:00.

Lehigh ties for nation’s biggest improvement in 2012
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team tied for the nation’s biggest improvement in 2012, according to LaxPower’s computer rankings which were released on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks tied UMass at plus 23 when comparing the final power rankings of 2011 to 2012. The computer ratings taking into account many of the factors used by the NCAA Tournament selection committee, including strength of schedule, RPI, quality wins and more.

Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will serve as a guest studio analyst on ESPN2 and ESPNU this weekend as the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car action continues. The 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year will join host Anish Shroff and analyst Mark Dixon all weekend from ESPNU’s studio in Charlotte, N.C. Lao-Gosneys make movie debut in Crooked Arrows premiering Friday
Lehigh midfielders Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney played key roles in the lacrosse movie Crooked Arrows, which opens in select theatres on Friday (May 18). The twins were both part of the Coventry team, the prep school which the Crooked Arrows play. Roman wears #21 and Cameron #25; they appear in numerous scenes, with Roman having one speaking part as well.

Cassese and Nadelen to coach South Team at USILA North-South Game
Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will team up with Towson’s Shawn Nadelen as co-head coaches for the South Team at the annual North-South Senior All-Star Game next Friday (May 25) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. Lehigh drops 10-9 heartbreaker to Maryland in NCAA Tourney
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team erased a five-goal deficit with seven straight goals bridging the second and third quarters, but Maryland wouldn’t go away as Joe Cummings scored with six seconds remaining to hand the Mountain Hawks a crushing 10-9 defeat, in an NCAA First Round game Sunday night. Maryland maintained possession for the game’s final 4:41 leading into the last-second score. Lehigh ends its record-breaking season at 14-3 while the Terrapins improve to 10-5.

Following a historic regular season, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will play its first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Sunday night when the seventh-seeded Mountain Hawks host Maryland at 7:30 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh held its annual Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall Fame banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday April 28, 2012 on the university’s Asa Packer Campus. #8 Lehigh tops #19 Army, 13-7, to advance to Patriot League Title Game

Lao-Gosney and Souders earn Academic All-League honors
A day after earning First Team All-Patriot League honors, Lehigh senior Roman Lao-Gosney and sophomore Ty Souders have been named Academic All-League. They mark two of only six Patriot League student-athletes earning both First Team and Academic honors. Lao-Gosney is fifth on the team with 20 points (16 goals, four assists) while Souders owns 28 groundballs and 12 caused turnovers, spearheading one of the nation’s top defenses.

Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney are not typical teammates. The Lehigh co-captains are fraternal twins who started playing lacrosse in high school at Hebron Academy in Maine. Cassese named assistant coach for 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team
Lehigh men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese has been named an assistant coach for the 2014 U.S. men’s national team, as announced on Friday. He will join a staff led by former Navy head coach Richie Meade, who was named the United States’ head coach in December. Lehigh kicks off 2012 campaign at Saint Joseph’s Saturday
Following more than four weeks of preseason practice, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday for its season opener at Saint Joseph’s. This marks the fifth straight year that the Mountain Hawks will open with Saint Joe’s, with Lehigh winning three of the previous four meetings. Season Preview: Lehigh looks to take the next step in 2012
By most accounts, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team enjoyed a successful 2011 season, but the Mountain Hawks aren’t satisfied. Their most significant accomplishment was making the team’s first Patriot League Tournament since 2006, but they want more. Entering this season, Lehigh has its eyes set on breaking onto the national lacrosse landscape while competing for a league championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament, where they hope to do damage against the nation’s elite.

DiMaria and Fantoni: Lehigh’s dynamic duo
Lehigh junior attackmen David DiMaria and Dante Fantoni went to high school less than a mile from each other on Long Island. While DiMaria was tearing it up for Half Hollows Hills West, Fantoni was doing the same for St. Anthony’s. Little did they know that in the near future, the two would complement each other as one of the nation’s top collegiate scoring duos. Not only that, but they’d also help lead the Mountain Hawks to the verge of national prowess.

Cassese and Dougherty enjoying busy weekend together
Following a preseason scrimmage against each other Saturday, head coaches Kevin Cassese of Lehigh and Brian Dougherty of Chestnut Hill will be joining forces Sunday when the two friends coach the U.S. National Team in the Champion Challenge. After the Mountain Hawks and Griffins squared off, the two hopped in a car for the Philadelphia airport. Their ultimate destination is Lake Buena Vista, Fla. where they’ll lead the United States against defending national semifinalist Denver.

Mountain Hawks picked fourth in preseason poll
After advancing to the program’s first Patriot League Tournament since 2006 last season, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team is projected to do it again as the Mountain Hawks were picked fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll announced on Wednesday. The results were unveiled during the league’s preseason media teleconference.

Lehigh’s game at Navy to air nationally on CBS Sports Network
Lehigh men’s lacrosse’s showdown at Navy has been moved to Friday, Mar. 30 and will air nation-wide on CBS Sports Network. Faceoff in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is set for 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks will be looking for their second straight win over the Midshipmen after breaking a 98-year drought last year with a thrilling 14-10 win.

Inside Lacrosse NCAA Preview 2012: No. 28 Lehigh
Lehigh made the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in five seasons with a 7 -9 record in 2011. The year ended in disappointing fashion against Bucknell, 13-5. Cassese to coach U.S. national team in Champion Challenge
Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will continue his work with the U.S. men’s national team when he coaches the squad in an exhibition tilt on Sunday, Jan. 29 against defending National Semifinalist Denver. Faceoff against the Pioneers is set for 1:30 p.m. at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Cassese will be joined by Towson head coach Shawn Nadelen and Chestnut Hill head coach Brian Dougherty to make up the staff.

Lehigh wraps up first weekend of preseason practice

The Mountain Hawks battled frigid temperatures, hitting the field twice each day as the squad works towards its season opener on Feb. 11 at Saint Joseph’s.
