Lao-Gosneys make movie debut in Crooked Arrows premiering Friday
Lehigh midfielders Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney played key roles in the lacrosse movie Crooked Arrows, which opens in select theatres on Friday (May 18). The twins were both part of the Coventry team, the prep school which the Crooked Arrows play. Roman wears #21 and Cameron #25; they appear in numerous scenes, with Roman having one speaking part as well.

Poillon earns another National Rookie of the Week honor
Lehigh freshman goalie Matt Poillon has garnered another award after a stellar 16-save performance in Sunday’s NCAA First Round Game. The Mount Sinai, N.Y. native earned his second Cascade Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by Inside Lacrosse on Wednesday. He tied a career high in saves, including six in the third quarter, to help the Mountain Hawks propel ahead of Maryland.

Cassese and Nadelen to coach South Team at USILA North-South Game
Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will team up with Towson’s Shawn Nadelen as co-head coaches for the South Team at the annual North-South Senior All-Star Game next Friday (May 25) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. The nation’s top seniors will face off at Harvard Stadium the day before Championship Weekend kicks off at nearby Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Lehigh drops 10-9 heartbreaker to Maryland in NCAA Tourney
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team erased a five-goal deficit with seven straight goals bridging the second and third quarters, but Maryland wouldn’t go away as Joe Cummings scored with six seconds remaining to hand the Mountain Hawks a crushing 10-9 defeat, in an NCAA First Round game Sunday night. Maryland maintained possession for the game’s final 4:41 leading into the last-second score. Lehigh ends its record-breaking season at 14-3 while the Terrapins improve to 10-5.

Lehigh hosts Maryland Sunday night in NCAA Tournament
Following a historic regular season, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will play its first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Sunday night when the seventh-seeded Mountain Hawks host Maryland at 7:30 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The game will air live nationally on ESPNU and ESPN3.com with Joe Beninati and Ryan Boyle on the call. Lehigh is the first Patriot League team to host a first round game since Navy in 2005.

Lehigh-Maryland NCAA First Round Game sold out
Barely 24 hours after going on sale, Sunday’s Lehigh-Maryland NCAA First Round Game sold out Tuesday morning. Capacity for the Ulrich Sports Complex is 2,000 fans (both seating and standing room). Fans still have many ways to follow the action including national TV (ESPNU and ESPN3) and free audio on Lehighsports.com.

Reunited: Brendan Callahan and Errol Wilson
The Lehigh defense has burst onto the national scene in leading the Mountain Hawks to their first Patriot League Tournament Title and NCAA Tournament berth. Owning a school-record 14 victories and the second most wins in the nation, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will host defending national finalist Maryland in an NCAA First Round game, as announced Sunday night. The game is set for next Sunday night (May 13) at 7:30 p.m. and will air live nation-wide on ESPNU. The Mountain Hawks earned their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth via their 16-14 win over Colgate in the Patriot League Championship Game.

Lehigh assistant Tom Compitello to make MLL Debut Saturday night
Lehigh men’s lacrosse assistant coach Tom Compitello will make his Major League Lacrosse debut Saturday night when his Hamilton Nationals travel to Denver to face the Outlaws. Opening faceoff is set for 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local) on ESPN3.com. Compitello will play attack for the Nationals following an All-America career at Stony Brook.

#8 Lehigh tops #10 Colgate, 16-14 for first Patriot League Tournament Title
The eighth-ranked and second-seeded Lehigh men’s lacrosse team put together one of its strongest offensive outbursts of the season, tying a season-high 16 goals to beat the #10 Colgate Raiders, 16-14 and win its first-ever Patriot League Tournament Championship on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks (14-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead then held off a Raiders’ (12-3) charge to earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Lehigh holds annual Hall of Fame induction banquet and ceremony
Lehigh held its annual Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall Fame banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday April 28, 2012 on the university’s Asa Packer Campus. Volleyball standout Kim (Freedman) Kellow ’99 was inducted following her election in the class of 2011, while former swimming and diving coach and director of admissions Bruce Gardiner and University Board of Trustees Chairman and former lacrosse student-athlete Dan Smith ’71 were inducted as part of a special election process.

#8 Lehigh tops #19 Army, 13-7, to advance to Patriot League Title Game
For the first time in school history, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team advanced to the Patriot League Championship Game as the #8 Mountain Hawks (13-2) downed #19 Army (7-7), 13-7, Friday night at Andy Kerr Stadium. Senior Adam Johnson posted his 14th-career hat trick while junior Dante Fantoni had five points on two goals and three assists to lead the Mountain Hawks’ attack.

Lao-Gosney and Souders earn Academic All-League honors
A day after earning First Team All-Patriot League honors, Lehigh senior Roman Lao-Gosney and sophomore Ty Souders have been named Academic All-League. They mark two of only six Patriot League student-athletes earning both First Team and Academic honors. Lao-Gosney is fifth on the team with 20 points (16 goals, four assists) while Souders owns 28 groundballs and 12 caused turnovers, spearheading one of the nation’s top defenses.
