Snyder and Noone picked up by Major League Lacrosse teams
Former Lehigh standouts Ryan Snyder and Mike Noone were recently picked up by Major League Lacrosse teams, Snyder joining the first-place Denver Outlaws and Noone heading to the Ohio Machine. Snyder has been added to the active roster and will back up Anthony Kelly at the faceoff X while Noone is on Ohio’s practice squad, but could join the active roster at a moment’s notice.

Walsh featured for work with Bike to the Beach charity
Lehigh men’s lacrosse alum Robby Walsh was featured on the ESPN show 30 for 30 on Apr. 23 for his tremendous work with the Bike to the Beach charity. The piece was done in partnership with the NCAA and Buick. Fans can view the entire three-minute segment on NCAA.com.

Mountain Hawks lead South to 16-10 win in North-South Game
Lehigh men's lacrosse graduating seniors David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Ryan Snyder and Mike Noone all played key roles in leading the South to a 16-10 win in last Friday's 72nd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game. The four representatives marked the most from any school in the nation. DiMaria posted a game-high four points, Fantoni scored a goal, Snyder won 14 faceoffs and Noone had at least one groundball and caused turnover to lead the defense.

Four from Lehigh men’s lacrosse named All-Americans
Seniors David DiMaria and Mike Noone, junior Ty Souders and sophomore Matt Poillon were all named USILA honorable mention All-Americans on Thursday as the postseason recognition for the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team continues. The four All-America honorees breaks the previous school record of three from last season. Souders and Poillon earn All-America recognition for a second straight season.

Four Mountain Hawks to play in North-South Game Friday
Lehigh seniors David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Ryan Snyder will suit up for the South on Friday for the 72nd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. Lehigh’s four representatives mark the most from any school nationally and break last year’s school record of three Mountain Hawks to play in the game.

Hess and Snyder named USILA Scholar All-Americans
Lehigh seniors Brian Hess and Ryan Snyder have been named USILA Scholar All-Americans, as announced on Tuesday. The two honorees were the most in the Patriot League, joining Army’s Brendan Buckley, Bucknell’s Mike Huffner and Colgate’s Peter Baum as five of the more than 90 individuals across Division I, II and III recognized.

Cassese set for role as ESPN guest analyst this weekend
Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will join Anish Shroff and analyst Mark Dixon in studio this weekend for the NCAA Quarterfinal games on Saturday and Sunday. It marks the second straight season that Cassese will serve as a guest analyst for the quarterfinals. The three will provide coverage before each game, at halftime and between contests as they break down all four games over the two days.

DiMaria to join Cannons; Lao-Gosneys enjoying success in MLL
Following a stellar collegiate career, Lehigh senior David DiMaria will join his Major League Lacrosse team (Boston) on Saturday and suit up for its game against the Bayhawks. Lehigh alums Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney are also enjoying early-season success for the Hamilton Nationals.

Big second quarter leads UNC past Lehigh in NCAA Tourney
The #10 nationally-ranked Lehigh men’s lacrosse team led 2-1 after a quarter, but #1 ranked and #5 seed UNC used a 5-0 surge in the second to take a lead that it wouldn’t relinquish as the Mountain Hawks fell 16-7 on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament. Sophomore Matt Poillon was stellar between the pipes with a career-high 17 saves while senior David DiMaria ended a strong career with two goals and three assists.

Mountain Hawks head to UNC for NCAA First Round Saturday
The two-time defending Patriot League Champion and #10 nationally-ranked Lehigh men’s lacrosse team begins its second straight NCAA Tournament on Saturday when it heads to North Carolina to face the fifth-seeded and top-ranked Tar Heels. Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN2 with Eamon McAnaney and Paul Carcaterra on the call. Lehigh returns to the site of its biggest win of 2012 when the unranked Mountain Hawks upset #4 UNC 9-8 to spark a run to their first NCAA Tourney appearance.

Compitello helps mastermind Lehigh attack
The Lehigh offense hit a lull with nonleague losses to Penn and UMass by identical 6-4 finals. Head coach Kevin Cassese decided to implement a new system, which has worked wonders; the Mountain Hawks have scored double-figure goals in six straight games and are Patriot League Champions and NCAA Tournament bound for a second straight season.

Lehigh draws North Carolina in NCAA Tournament Saturday
Following its second straight Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team learned Sunday night that it will head to #5 seed North Carolina for its NCAA First Round game Saturday. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN2.The Mountain Hawks will return to North Carolina where it defeated the Tar Heels last season. UNC and Lehigh enter the NCAA Tournament with the nation’s two longest active winning streaks at nine and seven games, respectively.

DiMaria named a 2013 Tewaaraton Award nominee
Lehigh senior attackman David DiMaria has been named a Tewaaraton Award nominee, as announced late last week. He is one of only 25 players nationally named a nominee for the sport’s highest honor. DiMaria, senior Dante Fantoni and sophomore Matt Poillon were originally named to the watch list in February.

#14/16 Lehigh wins second straight PL Title, 11-5 over Bucknell
The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to an 11-5 win over Bucknell to win its second straight Patriot League Championship on Sunday afternoon. Senior David DiMaria had two goals and three assists to finish with 10 points for the tournament and earn Tournament MVP honors. Lehigh became the first team since Navy in 2006-07 to win back-to-back Patriot League Titles.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team ran away from Colgate in the Patriot League Semifinals Friday night. The Mountain Hawks used a third-quarter surge to take a 10-1 lead and erase any doubt. For a second straight season, they’d be playing for a Patriot League Championship.

#14/16 Lehigh dominates Colgate to advance to championship game
The #14/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team went on an 8-0 run spanning nearly 26 minutes in the second and third quarters to reach the Patriot League Championship Game for the second straight year as the Mountain Hawks defeated Colgate 15-7 in a semifinal Friday night at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks built a 10-goal lead late in the third quarter and coasted to their 11th win of the season.

#14/16 Lehigh hosts first Patriot League Tournament this weekend
The #14/16 nationally-ranked and top-seeded Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will open the Patriot League Tournament on Friday when it hosts fourth-seeded Colgate. Opening faceoff at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for 7:30 p.m. following the first game of the day featuring second-seeded Bucknell against third-seeded Army at 4:30 p.m. The entire Patriot League Tournament will air live nation-wide on CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan, Evan Washburn and Sheehan Stanwick Burch on the call.

Lanius, Souders and Snyder earn Academic All-League honors
Lehigh seniors Baxter Lanius and Ryan Snyder along with junior Ty Souders have been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced on Wednesday. For Snyder and Souders, it comes one day after they both earned Second Team All-Patriot League laurels. Lehigh’s three honorees are most from any school in the league.

Poillon named Goalie of the Year, seven garner All-League
Lehigh sophomore goalie Matt Poillon has been named Patriot League Goalie of the Year for a second straight season, while six others joined him as All-League honorees, as announced on Tuesday. Poillon and senior Mike Noone were named to the First Team while seniors David DiMaria, Brian Hess, Ryan Snyder, junior Ty Souders and sophomore Patrick Corbett garnered Second Team laurels.
