Men's golf opens up action in Connecticut

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Lehigh men’s golf team resumed fall play on the first day of the Hartford Hawk Invitational Monday at the Par 72 Bulls Bridge Golf Club. Freshman Zach Allinson led the Mountain Hawks with an opening-round 77, while the second round was suspended due to darkness after morning fog led to a delayed start.
Allinson’s 77 puts him in a tie for 45th place. Others who competed for the Mountain Hawks included sophomore Andrew Arnold, who is tied for 52nd after an opening round 78; senior Tim Rosenhouse and sophomore Alex DiClemente who are tied for 60th after shooting 80 and junior Sean Keller who shot 83 to tie for 78th. Rosenhouse had the best nine hole score for Lehigh in the round with a 35 on the front side, but shot 45 on the back nine.
As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot 315, good for 14th place in the 17-team field. Lehigh is 26 strokes off the lead set by St. John’s which shot 289. Loyola and Boston College are tied for second at 291.
Boston College’s Andy Mai shot an opening round 67 to take the 18-hole lead, two shots better than three players, St. John’s’ Ryan McCormick, Loyola’s Patrick McCormick and Cameron Rappleye of Sacramento State,
The Hartford Hawk Invitational concludes Tuesday with the remainder of the second round plus the final 18 holes from Connecticut.
