Lehigh returns to links at two-day Lafayette Spring Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks will play their second tournament of the spring season when they travel to participate in the 10th annual Lafayette Spring Invitational, Sunday and Monday at Northampton Country Club. Lehigh won this event back in 2009 and finished fifth in each of the last two seasons, when the tournament was held at the Center Valley Club.
 
Joining Lehigh in the 15-team field will be rival and tournament host Lafayette, plus  Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Iona, LaSalle, Manhattan, Monmouth, Muhlenberg, Niagara, Siena, St. Francis (Pa.), and St. Peter’s.
 
Lehigh will look to build on the momentum of a solid opener to the spring season when it finished fifth out of fifteen teams at the Quaker Invitational. Lehigh received strong showing from senior Tim Rosenhouse and freshman Carlos Kim as both finished in the top-20 individually, with Rosenhouse tying for third overall..
 
The Lafayette Invitational will take place over two days at the Northampton Country Club. The Northampton is a par-72, 6,542-yard course from the back tees. The event will begin on Sunday at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start and will continue on Monday when the participants will tee off holes from holes No.1 and 10 at 9 a.m.
 
The Lafayette Invitational begins Lehigh’s busiest stretch of the season, as the Mountain Hawks will play in the Navy Invitational next weekend and the Lehigh Valley Intercollegiate April 24 leading into the Patriot League Championships at Bucknell April 28-29.
