Lehigh opens up action at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh men’s golf team battled brutal weather conditions on day one of the Navy Invitational Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks shot an opening round 314 to sit in sixth place in the 20 team field after 18 holes of play. Junior Tim Rosenhouse led Lehigh on day one with a five over par 76 to tie for ninth place heading into day two.
 
Others who competed for the Mountain Hawks included junior Doug Marcincin who shot 78 to tie for 25th place; freshman Alex DiClemente, who is in a tie for 33rd after shooting 79; senior Duncan Zeiders fired an 81 to tie for 50th place, while sophomore Sean Keller is in a tie for 57th after shooting an 82.
 
Columbia’s Clark Granum and Drexel’s James Braunsberg are tied for first place after 18 holes after shooting a two over par 73. Alex Redfearn of Loyola sits in third place after shooting 74.
 
The top teams after round one are TCU and Columbia who both shot 302 in Saturday’s opening round. Lafayette is in third at 307 followed by Navy at 310, Loyola at 311 and the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh holds a one-stroke lead over St. Bonaventure for sixth place.
 
The Navy Invitational will conclude on Sunday with the final 18 holes at the Naval Academy Golf Course. The Academy will also host the Patriot League Championship next weekend.
