Lehigh off to strong start at Lafayette Invitational
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s golf team enjoyed a strong start to the two-day Lafayette Invitational Saturday at the Center Valley Club. The Mountain Hawks shot a first round 299 to tie for second place with Siena and Hofstra in the 15 team field. Junior Tim Rosenhouse led the way for the Mountain Hawks firing an opening round 72 to sit in a tie for sixth place.
Other Mountain Hawks who competed on Saturday were sophomore Sean Keller, who shot 74 to tie for 11th, senior Dwight D’Iorio who is in a tie for 18th with a 76, junior Doug Marcincin who sits in a tie for 29th with a 77, and senior Duncan Zeiders, who sits in a tie for 50th with an opening round 80.
Freshman Alex DiClemente and Andrew Arnold competed as individuals, with DiClemente shooting a 75 to tie for 15th, while Arnold sits in 62nd place after shooting 82.
The host Lafayette Leopards have the 18-hole lead with a first round score of 294, five better than Lehigh, Siena and Hofstra. Iona sits in fifth place at 301. Lafayette’s Carter Rufe holds the opening round individual lead after shooting a three-under-par 69. Rufe leads Siena’s Justin Deitz and Hofstra’s Paul Bruckner by one stroke.
The Lafayette Invitational will conclude Sunday morning with the final round at the Center Valley Club.
