Lehigh men's golf opens play at Hartford Hawk Invitational
SOUTH KENT, Conn. – After opening the fall season with a second and first place finish in its first two events, things did not go as well for the Lehigh men’s golf team on day one of the Hartford Hawk Invitational at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 627 (320-307) over the first 36 holes and sit in 14th place in the 16 team field.
Junior Alex DiClemente was the only Mountain Hawk to break 80 in Monday morning’s first round as he shot 78 playing in his native Connecticut. DiClemente shot an 80 in the afternoon and is tied for 56th place at 158.
Lehigh’s top performers on day one were sophomore Carlos Kim (81-75) and freshman Harley Abrams (82-74) who are tied for 45th place with rounds of 156. Junior Andrew Arnold is one shot behind DiClemente at 159 (81-78), as he is tied for 58th place. The Mountain Hawks’ fifth competitor is senior Sean Keller, who shot rounds of 80 and 85 and is tied for 75th place at 165.
Hartford’s Patrick Ross and Temple’s Brandon Matthews are tied for the individual lead at 142, three shots better than three others. The host Hawks lead the team race at 584 (286-298), nine shots better than second place Rhode Island.
The Hartford Hawk Invitational concludes with the final 18 holes Tuesday from Bull’s Bridge Golf Club.
