McCollum wins fifth Patriot League Player of the Week award this season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the fourth time in the last seven weeks and fifth time this season, Lehigh junior guard C.J. McCollum has been named Patriot League of the Week, as announced on Monday. McCollum upped his league record to 11 career honors after posting 52 points, 19 rebounds, eight assists and six steals over a pair of games.
McCollum began the week with 30 points and nine rebounds at American Thursday, eclipsing 30 points for a fifth time this season and 13th time in his career. He also added a team-high nine rebounds.
The Canton, Ohio native came back Saturday against Colgate to fill up the stat sheet, posting his 17th-career double-double, fourth this season and third in his last five games. He finished with 10 rebounds, five steals (to tie a season high) and six assists. McCollum didn’t turn the ball over as Lehigh took care of the basketball, with a season-low five turnovers in a 20-point victory over the Raiders.
McCollum now has 1,872 career points (to move to fourth in Patriot League history and third in school history). His 564 points on the season are already eighth-best in single-season school history.
For the season, McCollum is averaging 21.7 points (leading the Patriot League and sixth in the nation), 6.7 rebounds (third) and 88 total assists (tied for fourth). He also leads the league and is eighth nationally with 2.6 steals per game.
Lehigh travels to Bucknell on Thursday to face the Bison at 7 p.m. in a CBS Sports Network tilt. The Mountain Hawks will return home next Saturday (Feb. 18) for their Senior Day game vs. archrival Lafayette.
