McCollum earns another PL Player of the Week honor

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following one of his strongest all-around weeks of the season, Lehigh junior guard C.J. McCollum has earned yet another Patriot League Player of the Week award, as announced by the league on Monday. The honor marks McCollum’s fourth of the season and third in the last five weeks. In the process, he extended his Patriot League career record to 10.
McCollum filled up the stat sheet all week, scoring 49 total points while adding 24 rebounds, six assists and seven steals. He posted a double-double in both games to up his season total to three and career total to 16.
McCollum began against Navy on Thursday with 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 2-of-4 from three-point range. He also added a season-high 14 rebounds (one shy of a career high), along with three assists and two steals. McCollum followed that up Sunday vs. Army with 25 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, three assists and three blocks. In the process, he became the first player to hit all of those levels against a Division I opponent since Marqus Blakely did it for Vermont on December 30, 2009.
With 49 points on the week, McCollum moved from eighth to fifth in Patriot League history for career points, now with an even 1,800. That included passing former Colgate and NBA star Adonal Foyle, who had 1,776 in his career. McCollum also moved to fifth in Lehigh history.
For the season, McCollum is averaging 21.4 points (leading the Patriot League and fifth in the nation), 6.4 rebounds (third) and 3.2 assists per game (fifth). He also leads the league with 2.5 assists per game.
