Greiner and McKnight earn All-Patriot League honors

Posted: 03/04/2013
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior Holden Greiner has earned First Team All-Patriot League honors while junior Mackey McKnight was named to the Second Team, as announced on the league’s media teleconference Monday morning. Greiner and McKnight earned All-League laurels for the first time in their careers, joining current Mountain Hawks Gabe Knutson and C.J. McCollum who’ve been named All-Patriot League in the past.

Greiner has enjoyed a sensational senior season, standing third on the team in scoring average (13.2) and leading the way in Patriot League play (14.7). He’s reached double-figure points in five straight games, including a career-high 27 points at Lafayette and 24 in the regular season finale against Army. That included 14 points in the final 3:24 after the Black Knights tied the score at 62. He added a career-high 14 rebounds for his sixth-career double-double and fourth this season, while posting career highs in assists (5) and steals (4) as well.

The Traverse City, Mich. native stands just 26 points away from the 1,000th in his career. He’d become the third member of his class (along with McCollum and Knutson) to the milestone. Greiner also leads the team in rebounding (6.7) which includes five games with double-figure boards this season.

McKnight has emerged as one of the top guards in the Patriot League. He’s averaging 12.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists while his 138 total assists are tied for fourth in school history. McKnight has picked up his scoring, which includes four games of 20 or more points, including a career-high 25 at North Texas. He also added 22 at Holy Cross along with 21 against Army and Fordham. McKnight dished a career-high nine assists against American on Feb. 13.

Bucknell’s Mike Muscala was named Patriot League Player and Defensive Player of the Year while Army’s Kyle Wilson was Rookie of the Year and his coach Zach Spiker earned Coach of the Year.
