McCollum sets record with ninth-career PL Player of the Week honor
After 58 points over a pair of Lehigh victories, junior guard C.J. McCollum was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday. The honor marks McCollum’s third this season and ninth of his career to set a new league record. The Canton, Ohio native scored 26 points against American then followed that up with 32 at Colgate.

Mountain Hawks storm back for impressive 78-56 win over Colgate
After a slow start, the Lehigh men’s basketball team used a 22-3 run heading into halftime to surge past Colgate (5-12, 0-3 Patriot League), 78-56, on Saturday. Junior C.J. McCollum sparked the rally with a game-high 32 points while four other Mountain Hawks (14-5, 2-1) recorded double-digit points as well. Lehigh enters Wednesday’s home showdown vs. defending league champion Bucknell winners of two straight and 14 of its last 17.

Mountain Hawks head to Colgate for Saturday afternoon tipoff
Following an impressive home win over American Wednesday, Lehigh looks to make it two in a row when it travels to Colgate on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff. The Mountain Hawks look to avenge a pair of heartbreaking losses against the Raiders a year ago while winning for the fifth time in their last six games overall.

Strong second half leads Lehigh past American, 71-60
The Lehigh men’s basketball team used a second-half surge to extend a two-point halftime lead into a double-digit victory as the Mountain Hawks (13-5, 1-1 PL) topped American (10-7, 1-1), 71-60 on Wednesday, for their first Patriot League win of the season. Junior C.J. McCollum led the way with 26 points to jump into ninth in league history in career scoring. Seniors John Adams and Jordan Hamilton also impressed with 11 and nine points, respectively.

Lehigh returns home for Wednesday night showdown vs. American
The Lehigh men’s basketball team looks to bounce back from a tough league-opening loss at Holy Cross when it hosts rival American on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks fell behind early on Saturday, but put forth a valiant second-half comeback which fell just short. Wednesday features two of the three Patriot League squads who own double-digit victories on the season (12 for Lehigh and 10 for American).

Mountain Hawks make a pair of school visits
In the midst of one of its strongest seasons in program history, the Lehigh men’s basketball team found time to give back to the community as the Mountain Hawks visited Hanover Elementary School last Thursday, then Nitschmann Middle School on Monday. The squad delivered a number of messages to the youngsters, including respect, self-confidence, the importance of hard work and more.

Late Lehigh rally not enough in 84-78 loss at Holy Cross
Despite a strong second-half surge, the Lehigh men’s basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting Crusaders’ team in dropping its Patriot League opener at Holy Cross, 84-78 on Saturday. The Crusaders used 59-percent first-half shooting to score 47 points, but Lehigh (12-5, 0-1 PL) hung around, pulling as close as five in the second half before falling short.

Mountain Hawks open Patriot League play at Holy Cross Saturday
Coming off its best nonleague season in school history, the Lehigh men’s basketball team opens up Patriot League play on Saturday when it travels to Holy Cross to face the Crusaders. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Hart Center. The Mountain Hawks come in with the league’s best record (12-4) while Holy Cross is 6-8, but an impressive 4-1 at home.

Lehigh wraps up nonleague play with 82-55 win over UMES
The Lehigh men’s basketball team wrapped up its best nonleague season in school history with a resounding 82-55 win over University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday evening in Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks (12-4) used a 17-0 first-half run to break a 10-10 tie and roll to the victory. A balanced team effort saw 12 different Lehigh players score, led by a game-high 18 points from junior C.J. McCollum.

McCollum garners Patriot League Player of the Week
Accolades continue to roll in for junior C.J. McCollum as he was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Tuesday, just one day after garnering recognition from two different media outlets. It marks McCollum’s eighth-career Player of the Week award to tie a Patriot League record. He finished a stellar week with 56 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists over wins at Saint Peter’s and Bryant.

Winners of five of its last six and 11 of its last 13, the Lehigh men’s basketball team looks to ride the success into the new year as the Mountain Hawks begin 2012 on Tuesday with a home matchup against University of Maryland Eastern Shore. McCollum earns recognition following stellar week
Lehigh junior guard C.J. McCollum earned recognition from multiple outlets on Monday following a week which included a double-double and a dominant 30-point scoring effort. McCollum was named CollegeHoops.net’s national Mid-Major Player of the Week, while he also garnered College Sports Madness’ Patriot League Player of the Week. The Canton, Ohio native finished the week with 56 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists over a pair of road victories.
