Mountain Hawks drop heartbreaking 80-79 final to Bryant
Bryant jumped out to an early lead and Lehigh couldn’t recover as the Mountain Hawks dropped a heartbreaking 80-79 final on Saturday evening in Stabler Arena. The Bulldogs scored the go-ahead basket with 1.3 seconds remaining to snap the Mountain Hawks’ eight-game winning streak and win themselves for the seventh time in their last nine contests. Senior C.J. McCollum returned from injury to score 34 points on 9-of-18 shooting and 6-of-10 from three-point range.

Lehigh looks to continue momentum vs. Bryant Saturday
The Lehigh men’s basketball team eyes its ninth straight win on Saturday when it welcomes Bryant for a 7 p.m. tipoff in Stabler Arena. That game will follow a pair of women’s basketball Christmas City Classic contests at 2 and 4:30 p.m. with the Lehigh women hosting Binghamton at 4:30. One ticket will get you into all three games as part of the Saturday tripleheader. The Mountain Hawks are coming off an impressive 90-75 win at North Texas, despite missing star senior C.J. Strong team effort leads Lehigh past North Texas, 90-75
Without the nation’s leading scorer, the Lehigh men’s basketball team came together for one of its most impressive wins of the season, defeating North Texas 90-75 on Thursday evening. Down 21-18 midway through the first half, the Mountain Hawks scored 34 of the final 46 first-half points to pull away. Senior Gabe Knutson paced the offense with 28 points while junior Mackey McKnight scored a career-high 25 and tied a season-high seven assists.

McCollum and McKnight named Bob Cousy Award Candidates
Lehigh men’s basketball senior C.J. McCollum and junior Mackey McKnight have been named candidates for the 2013 Bob Cousy Award, as announced by the Basketball Hall of Fame on Thursday. The annual honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, recognizes the top point guards in men’s college basketball. In total, over 80 candidates have been nominated for the award and Lehigh is one of only five schools with multiple candidates.

Mountain Hawks return to action at North Texas Thursday
Following more than 10 days between games, the Lehigh men’s basketball team will return to action on Thursday when it heads to North Texas to face the Mean Green. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local). The Mountain Hawks are riding a seven-game winning streak, off to their best start in 74 years at 8-2. Thursday will feature a premier matchup between two NBA Draft lottery prospects in Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum and North Texas sophomore Tony Mitchell.

Lehigh tops Saint Francis (Pa.) 83-67 for best start in 74 years
Lehigh opened the game on a 13-0 run and held off Saint Francis the rest of the way as the Mountain Hawks won their seventh straight game on Saturday, 83-67. With the win, Lehigh is off to its best start after 10 games (8-2) since 1938-39. Senior C.J. McCollum led the way with 29 points, falling just one shy of his fourth 30-point game of the season.

Lehigh looks to continue streak at Saint Francis (Pa.) Saturday
Riding a six-game winning streak, the Lehigh men’s basketball team looks to make it seven in a row on Saturday when it travels to Saint Francis (Pa.) to face the Red Flash. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The Mountain Hawks (7-2) are off to their best start since 1980-81 (one game better than last season’s 6-3 record) while with a win Saturday, they’d be 8-2 after 10 games for the first time since the 1938-39 campaign.

Lehigh runs past Fordham, 81-63
The Lehigh men’s basketball jumped out to a 20-point halftime lead then held on in the second to beat Fordham, 81-63 on Tuesday evening in Stabler Arena. The win marks the Mountain Hawks’ sixth in a row as they improve to 7-2, equaling their best record after nine games since the 1980-81 season. All five starters posted double-figure points, led by 21 from junior Mackey McKnight.

Lehigh looks to extend win streak vs. Fordham Tuesday
Coming off a historic effort against Fairleigh Dickinson, the Lehigh men’s basketball team looks for its sixth straight win when it hosts Fordham Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks eclipsed 100 points in Saturday’s 102-62 win over FDU, this in head coach Brett Reed’s 100th career victory. Senior C.J. McCollum led the way with 23 points in 24 minutes, sophomore Stefan Cvrkalj added a career-high 20 and all 13 Mountain Hawks scored.

Mountain Hawks dominate Fairleigh Dickinson, 102-62
The Lehigh men’s basketball team jumped out to a 32-3 lead just over 10 minutes into the game, then continued to roll as the Mountain Hawks (6-2) topped Fairleigh Dickinson 102-62 on Saturday evening in Stabler Arena. Lehigh shot 63 percent from the field (38-of-60) and 58 percent from three-point range (11-of-19) in an offensive clinic.

Lehigh welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday night
Following a pair of games in Connecticut, the Lehigh men’s basketball team returns home for two straight beginning Saturday when it welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Mountain Hawks are eying their fifth straight win overall and 10th straight over an NEC foe (dating back to 2010). A win would also give Lehigh head coach Brett Reed his 100th career win, making him the fastest in Patriot League history to 100 victories.

McCollum takes over in impressive 77-66 win at Quinnipiac
Down 62-61 with just over five minutes left in the second half, Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum scored 14 straight Mountain Hawk (5-2) points to help Lehigh pull away for a 77-66 win at Quinnipiac on Tuesday evening. After not scoring for the game’s first 9:49, McCollum finished with 30 points, already his third game with 30+ points this season and the 17th of his career. He also posted nine rebounds and four assists to help Lehigh win at Quinnipiac for the first time in school history.

McCollum earns ECAC Player of the Week honors
Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum continues to rack in the honors, garnering ECAC Player of the Week on Tuesday just a day after earning Patriot League Player of the Week laurels. It marks McCollum’s fifth-career ECAC weekly award after garnering two in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He is also a former ECAC Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year.

Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday following another impressive week and record-breaking performance. McCollum averaged 27 points over a trio of Mountain Hawk victories last week, capped off by breaking the Patriot League career scoring record on Sunday at Sacred Heart.

McCollum breaks record in 91-77 win at Sacred Heart
Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum scored 26 points to become the Patriot League’s all-time leading scorer as the Mountain Hawks were up by as many as 30 before holding on for an impressive 91-77 win at Sacred Heart on Sunday. In total, four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures including seniors Gabe Knutson and Holden Greiner who posted 18 and 17, respectively. Sophomore Stefan Cvrkalj also added 14, including four three-pointers.

Lehigh returns to action Sunday at Sacred Heart
Following a strong showing in the NIT Season Tip-Off, the Lehigh men’s basketball team returns to action Sunday when it travels to Sacred Heart for a 2 p.m. tipoff. The Mountain Hawks finished 3-1 in the preseason tournament, beating a trio of squads who won 20+ games a season ago (Robert Morris, Fairfield and Penn). Lehigh will play a pair of games in Connecticut in a three-day span, also traveling to Quinnipiac Tuesday.

Mountain Hawks pull away in second for 73-66 win over Penn
The Lehigh men’s basketball team took a one-point halftime lead and extended it in the second, opening its largest lead of the game (13) late in regulation before closing out a 73-66 win over Penn on Tuesday night in Stabler Arena. Lehigh finishes the NIT Season Tip-Off with a 3-1 record, beating three teams who won 20 or more games last season in Robert Morris, Fairfield and Penn. Four Mountain Hawks finished with double-figure points, paced by senior C.J. McCollum who posted a game-high 21.
