McCollum enjoys busy stretch with combine, graduation and draft lottery
Former Lehigh standout C.J. McCollum is in the midst of a busy stretch with the NBA Combine last weekend followed by graduation on Monday and the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday. McCollum’s stock has continued to rise and is predicted by many as a top-10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. He walked at graduation Monday and was one of nearly Lehigh 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students to receive their diplomas.

Team awards announced at annual team banquet
The Lehigh men’s basketball team held its annual “Zell” Awards Banquet and 2012-13 award winners were announced last month (Saturday, Apr. 14) at Lamberton Hall on campus. The dinner included a welcome from Associate Athletic Director Bill Griffin, remarks from a standout senior class, an awards ceremony, special banquet video and more.

Lehigh celebrates 2012-13 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 29 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, recognition of student-athlete winners of Lehigh University awards and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Reed receives Guardian of the Game Award at the Final Four
Lehigh men’s basketball coach Brett Reed received an NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Guardian of the Game Award Sunday evening at the Final Four® in Atlanta. Reed was presented the Education award presented to a coach committed to continuing education and the development of their profession in order to be better mentors, teachers and leaders. Reed joins select company, including legendary UCLA coach John Wooden who won the first award in 2002.

McCollum named Senior CLASS First Team All-American
Lehigh men’s basketball’s C.J. McCollum has been named a Senior CLASS First Team All-American, as announced on Thursday. A Senior CLASS Award Finalist, McCollum is joined on the first team by winner Jordan Hulls (Indiana) along with Mike Groselle (The Citadel), Mike Muscala (Bucknell) and Mason Plumlee (Duke).

Knutson and McKnight earn All-District honors
Lehigh senior Gabe Knutson and junior Mackey McKnight were named Second Team NABC All-District honorees earlier this week, following in the footsteps of classmate C.J. McCollum who is a three-time First Team selection. Knutson averaged double-figure points for a third straight season to wrap up a stellar four-year career with more than 1,500 points. McKnight increased his scoring and assist totals from his first two seasons and was named a Second Team All-Patriot League honoree.

Mountain Hawks drop 67-66 stunner at Wyoming in CBI
Senior Gabe Knutson gave Lehigh a two-point lead with just over five seconds remaining, but Wyoming answered on the other end with a buzzer-beating three from Nathan Sobey to end the Mountain Hawks’ season in heartbreaking fashion, 67-66 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitation on Tuesday. Lehigh was down by 10 in the first half, yet responded to open a seven-point second-half advantage, but the Cowboys staged a 10-2 run over the final five minutes.

Mountain Hawks face Wyoming in CBI Tuesday night
Following its third 20-win season in the past four years, the Lehigh men’s basketball team will open postseason play as it travels to Laramie, Wyoming to face the Cowboys in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational. Tipoff on Tuesday is set for 7 p.m. local time (9 p.m. ET) and will air nationally on AXS.TV, which can be found on Service Electric channel 622, DirecTV channel 340, Verizon FiOS channel 569 and Dish Network channel 362.

Lehigh to play at Wyoming in College Basketball Invitational Tuesday
The Lehigh men’s basketball team will play in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and will travel to Wyoming for a Tuesday night showdown with the Cowboys. This marks the Mountain Hawks’ third national postseason appearance in the last four years. Lehigh finished the season 21-9, 10-4 in Patriot League play while advancing to the league semifinals for a fourth straight season.

Reed named a finalist for Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award
Lehigh head men’s basketball coach Brett Reed is one of only 20 finalists in the nation for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, as announced by CollegeInsider.com on Tuesday. The award was established in 2008 to honor those who not only achieve success on the basketball court, but who also display moral integrity off it as well. This season, Reed has become Lehigh’s all-time winningest coach and the fastest coach in Patriot League history to 100 career victories.

Mountain Hawks fall short in Patriot League Semis at Lafayette
Down 16 in the second half, the Lehigh men’s basketball team put forth a valiant effort to pull within five, but couldn’t get any closer as Lafayette downed the Mountain Hawks 82-69 in the Patriot League Semifinals on Saturday. Senior Holden Greiner scored 16 points to surpass 1,000 for his career, becoming the 31st player in school history and third in his class to reach the milestone. Senior Gabe Knutson also scored in double figures, finishing with 10 points to eclipse 1,500 in his career.

Lehigh and Lafayette clash Saturday in Patriot League Semifinals
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Lehigh men’s basketball team returns to the site of its last defeat when it heads to Lafayette for a huge Patriot League Semifinal showdown on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The Mountain Hawks are eying their third appearance in the Patriot League Title Game in the last four seasons, as are the Leopards. Lehigh won the league title in 2010 and 2012 while Lafayette advanced to the championship game in 2010 and 2011.

Mountain Hawks advance to semis behind 71-64 win over Colgate
Behind a sensational effort from senior Gabe Knutson, the Lehigh men’s basketball team bounced back from a nine-point second half deficit to beat Colgate 71-64 in the Patriot League Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening. Knutson finished with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 15 coming in the second half. With the win, third-seeded Lehigh advances to its fourth straight league semifinal and will head to #2 Lafayette Saturday at 2 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Knutson has excelled on the court and in the classroom since stepping foot on campus, owning a 3.25 cumulative GPA in Accounting while nearing the top 10 in school history for career points.

Mountain Hawks edge Army in regular season finale, 81-75
Up 16 in the second half, Army came back to pull even, but senior Holden Greiner scored 14 of his 24 points in the final 3:24 to lead the Lehigh men’s basketball team past Army, 81-75 on Saturday afternoon. Greiner was celebrating his Senior Day along with four other Mountain Hawks prior to their final regular season home game in the Brown & White. Lehigh improved to 10-4 in Patriot League play and 20-8 overall, its third time to 20 wins in the past four seasons.

Following a dominant 29-point win on Wednesday night, the Lehigh men’s basketball team wraps up the regular season when it hosts Army in a key Patriot League Tilt Saturday.
