INDIANAPOLIS – Lehigh wide receiver Ryan Spadola had the opportunity to showcase his talents for all 32 NFL teams as he participated in the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. The record-setting Mountain Hawk standout arrived in Indianapolis on Thursday and enjoyed a strong showing in his on-field workouts on Sunday.
Spadola clocked in at 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash to rank 15th among wide receivers. He tied for tenth-best among receivers in the bench press with 15 repetitions at 225 lbs.
The three-cone drill is where Spadola enjoyed his best performance as his time of 6.72 ranked fifth in his position group.
Among the other measured on-field stations, Spadola posted a 4.07 second 20-yard shuttle and 11.35 60-yard shuttle. He also had a 119 inch broad jump and a 33.5 inch vertical leap. Spadola also participated in various wide receiver drills, as he showcased the on-field ability that produced 232 career receptions for 3,611 yards and 24 touchdowns in four seasons for the Mountain Hawks.
To prepare for the combine, Spadola was training at Fit Speed Athletic Performance in Weston, Fla., a facility run by Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall. He also played in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game earlier this month.
Spadola is second Lehigh football player in the last three years to participate at the combine. Will Rackley ’11 participated in the 2011 combine, two months before the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him in the third round (76th overall).
Spadola will have another opportunity to showcase his talents for NFL scouts when he participates in Lehigh’s Pro Day on Tuesday, March 12.
The 2013 NFL Draft will be held April 25-27 in New York.
