Divers named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the fourth straight week a member of the Lehigh football program garnered a Patriot League weekly award. Quarterback Chris Lum saw his streak of consecutive Offensive Player of the Week awards come to an end but sophomore Tim Divers was named the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced Monday.
In just his second game as the Mountain Hawks placekicker, Divers booted the first two field goals of his career and was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts as Lehigh moved to 3-1 for the first time since 2007 with a 27-24 homecoming win over Liberty at Goodman Stadium.
Divers’ first field goal, the first successful field goal for Lehigh this season, came from 30 yards out and tied the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter. Divers added a second field goal, also from 30 yards away with just over six minutes remaining in the first half, which gave Lehigh a 13-10 lead.
In addition to his placekicking work, Divers completed his fourth game as the Mountain Hawks punter, placing one punt inside the Liberty 20 yard line in three attempts.
For the season, Divers is now 7-for-7 on extra points and 2-for-3 on field goal attempts. He is averaging 38 yards on 16 punts, with five kicks downed inside the 20 yard line.
With Saturday’s victory, Lehigh jumped up two spots to No. 13 in the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25. The Mountain Hawks also rose two spots in the FCS Coaches Poll, jumping from 16 to 14.
The Mountain Hawks return to the Gridiron on Saturday when they host Yale on Educator Appreciation Day at Goodman Stadium.
