Lehigh unveils 2012 football broadcast schedule
With the 2012 football season set to kick off on Saturday, Lehigh Athletics has announced its football broadcast schedule. This year, at least eight of Lehigh’s 11 regular season games will be televised – many available nationwide. For the ninth straight season, Lehigh football games will air live on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley, located at 1230 (WEEX-AM, Easton) and 1320 (WTKZ-AM, Allentown).

Mountain Hawks to kick off 2012 season at home vs. Monmouth
The 129th season of Lehigh football begins Saturday at Goodman Stadium as the Mountain Hawks host the Hawks of Monmouth. Lehigh comes in off back-to-back Patriot League championships including an 11-2 campaign a year ago where the Mountain Hawks won a playoff game for the second straight season, and captured the Lambert Cup as the top Eastern team in FCS football.

Lehigh Athletics season, fall broadcast schedule to begin Friday
With the fall season set to get underway on Friday, Lehigh Athletics has announced its fall broadcast schedule. For the third straight year Lehigh has partnered with Stretch Internet to deliver fans live action via the Lehigh GameCentral portal. Most men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, and volleyball home contests will be broadcast live on the Lehigh web site as part of the GameCentral pay-per-view offering.

Lehigh holds second scrimmage; Coen names Colvin starting QB
With preseason camp winding down and just ten days remaining before the season opener, the Lehigh football team held its second scrimmage of camp on a warm, sunny afternoon Wednesday on the John C. Whitehead Practice Fields. The two-hour workout was heavy on situational football as the Mountain Hawks worked on third down, red zone and two-minute drill situations in preparation for their September 1 season opener.

Behind the scenes: Ryan Spadola visits ESPN Radio studios
The kickoff of the 2012 Lehigh football season is less than two weeks away as the Mountain Hawks chase their third straight Patriot League title. To help get ready for the season, which kicks off September 1 when Lehigh hosts Monmouth at Goodman Stadium, senior All-America wide receiver Ryan Spadola visited the ESPN Radio studios in Easton, Pa. to lend his voice to a radio commercial promoting the opening day game – and Lehighsports.com was there to chronicle the visit.

Mountain Hawks hold first scrimmage of preseason camp
On one of the warmest days of preseason camp thus far the Lehigh football team held its first scrimmage Friday inside Goodman Stadium. The Mountain Hawks have just under two weeks until their season opener against Monmouth as head coach Andy Coen put his team through a workout that clocked in just over two hours on a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the upper 80s.

Lehigh ranked 16th in Sports Network preseason poll
As the Lehigh football team opens its second week of preseason camp, the Mountain Hawks learned Monday that they earned a preseason national ranking in the first of two major polls to be released. Lehigh comes in at No. 16 in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 unveiled Monday afternoon. The two-time defending Patriot League champion Mountain Hawks are the only league squad to be ranked in the top 25.

Former All-American Cribbs joins football coaching staff
As the Lehigh football team opened preseason camp earlier this week, head coach Andy Coen announced that former All-American Jarard Cribbs ’11 has joined the Mountain Hawks coaching staff. Cribbs, a four-year letter winner for the Brown and White, will assist with Lehigh’s defensive backs. He replaces Charles Alexander who accepted a position at East Stroudsburg University.

Mountain Hawks open up 2012 preseason football camp
Fresh off back-to-back Patriot League titles, the Lehigh football team returned to work with the beginning of preseason camp. The Mountain Hawks reported to campus on Monday for physicals and meetings and held their first workout of camp Tuesday under the lights on Frank Banko Field. Lehigh will have almost four full weeks of practice leading into its September 1 season opener against Monmouth at Goodman Stadium.

Spadola nets another preseason honor, this one from CSN
With one week remaining until the Lehigh football team opens preseason camp, senior wide receiver Ryan Spadola picked up another preseason accolade as he was named to the College Sporting News Preseason All-America second team on Monday. This most recent recognition capped an award-filled month of July for Spadola, who last week was named Preseason Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year.

Lehigh tabbed for third straight title; Spadola earns preseason honor
Winners of the last two Patriot League titles, Lehigh was tabbed for a three-peat Wednesday as the league held its annual media day at Green Pond Country Club. Senior wide receiver Ryan Spadola was named the league’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, highlighting a list of seven Mountain Hawks who were named to the inaugural Preseason All-Patriot League team.

Philadelpha Eagles set to land at Lehigh for training camp
For the 17th consecutive year, the Philadelphia Eagles are set to begin training camp on Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus. Rookies and select veterans will report to Bethlehem on Sunday, July 22 while all remaining veterans are slated to report to camp three days later. The first full-squad workouts are set for Friday, July 27 as the Eagles will make Lehigh their home for the next three and a half weeks.

Coen announces additions of Giacalone and Stovall to coaching staff
Lehigh head football coach Andy Coen announced on Tuesday the addition of Vincent Giacalone and Justin Stovall to the coaching staff. Giacalone will serve as Assistant Offensive Line Coach while Stovall takes over as Outside Linebackers Coach. Both have connections to Lehigh and the Patriot League as Giacalone’s brother Frank is a former offensive lineman at Lehigh while Stovall was a standout at Lafayette from 2003-06.

Lehigh finishes near top of Capital One Cup Men’s Standings
Following a stellar athletics season, Lehigh has finished 32nd in the final Capital One Cup Men’s Standings. The Mountain Hawks garnered 24 points due to three top-10 finishes (football, wrestling and men’s lacrosse). Lehigh finished ahead of numerous power schools including Michigan, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Michigan State and much more.

Spadola named to Walter Payton Award Watch List
Lehigh All-America wide receiver Ryan Spadola is one of 20 players named to the initial watch list for the Walter Payton Award, the Sports Network announced Thursday. Spadola is the second Mountain Hawk in as many years to be named to the watch list for the award, which is given to the outstanding player in the Football Championship Subdivision. Last year quarterback Chris Lum was added to the watch list in October, and went on to finish second in the voting.

Spadola garners preseason All-America honors from The Sports Network
Lehigh senior wide receiver Ryan Spadola has been named to the Sports Network Preseason All-America first team, it was announced Monday. The two-time All-American is coming off a record-setting junior season in which he caught 96 passes for 1,614 yards and 11 touchdowns. This marks the second straight season in which Spadola was named to a Sports Network Preseason All-America team.

First of three Lehigh football summer camp dates set for Saturday
The two-time defending Patriot League champion Lehigh football team will host the first of three summer camp dates Saturday June 9 on the Goodman Campus. Two session’s Lehigh’s Championship Football Camp will be held, one on June 9 and the other on June 16, while Lehigh’s 7-on-7 team camp and O-Line/D-Line camp will take place on July 14.

Spadola tabbed by Sports Network as one of top ten FCS receivers
Last season Lehigh wide receiver Ryan Spadola enjoyed a record-setting campaign, on the way to earning All-America honors for the second straight year. On Tuesday, Spadola was tabbed by the Sports Network as one of Ten Receivers to Watch for the second straight year. Spadola is the only Patriot League receiver on this list and was mentioned in the article as the league’s top wideout heading into 2012.

November 10 Lehigh-Colgate football game picked for CBS Sports Network
The Patriot League announced Monday that Lehigh’s November 10 contest versus Colgate at Goodman Stadium will be one of two league football games televised nationally on CBS Sports Network. The two-time defending Patriot League champions will close out their regular season home schedule against the Raiders in a game that will kick off at 12:30 p.m. from Goodman Stadium.

Drwal invited to participate in Packers rookie minicamp
Former Lehigh wide receiver Jake Drwal will get an opportunity to pursue his dreams of playing in the NFL as he was invited to a minicamp with the Green Bay Packers next weekend on a tryout basis. The two-time All-Patriot League selection will head to Wisconsin for the three-day rookie minicamp, May 11-13 with the hope of earning a free agent contract.
