Boyko, Spadola kick off pro careers at rookie mini-camps
Former Lehigh standouts Billy Boyko and Ryan Spadola took to NFL practice fields for the first time as the undrafted free agent signees participated in Rookie Mini-Camps this past weekend. Boyko was in Alameda, Calif. With the Oakland Raiders, while Spadola worked out in Florham Park, N.J. with the New York Jets.

Barket and Spadola named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society
Lehigh seniors Zach Barket and Ryan Spadola have been named to the 2013 National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced on Thursday. Both Mountain Hawks are two-time Capital One Academic All-District selections and key contributors to Lehigh’s back-to-back Patriot League championship teams in 2010 and 2011.

Former coordinator Bottiglieri returns to Lehigh to coach linebackers
Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of Joe Bottiglieri to the Mountain Hawks’ coaching staff. Bottiglieri will coach Lehigh’s inside linebackers. The appointment marks a return to Lehigh for Bottiglieri, a coaching veteran with 40 years of experience, who served as the Mountain Hawks’ defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 1998 and 1999.

Lehigh celebrates 2012-13 school year with annual convocation
Lehigh Athletics held its annual Convocation Program on Monday, April 29 at Baker Hall inside the Zoellner Arts Center to look back on the significant team and individual accomplishments of the past year. The event featured a highlight video, recognition of student-athlete winners of Lehigh University awards and the announcement of winners of Lehigh’s departmental awards.

Boyko, Spadola sign on with NFL teams as free agents
Two Lehigh football players will have the opportunity to continue their playing careers at the professional level after signing with NFL teams as undrafted free agents this weekend. All-America wide receiver Ryan Spadola has signed with the New York Jets while All-Patriot League linebacker Billy Boyko inked a deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Defense holds off offense in Brown and White Spring Game
The Lehigh football team completed its spring practice segment with the annual Brown and White game, held on a sunny but breezy Saturday morning inside Goodman Stadium. With a modified scoring system in place, the Brown team (defense) defeated the White (offense) 46-37. Both units had strong moments as the defense intercepted three passes, while the offense put the ball in the end zone on two occasions.

Lehigh to cap spring season with Brown and White game Saturday
The Lehigh football team will close out its 2013 spring practice segment on Saturday, April 20 with the annual Brown and White Spring Game, held inside Goodman Stadium. The event, which begins at 10 a.m., will once again feature a modified scoring system pitting the Lehigh offense versus the defense.

Lehigh to host bone marrow testing drive on Wednesday April 17
For the fifth consecutive year, the Lehigh football program will host a bone marrow testing drive on Wednesday, April 17, inside Lamberton Hall from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Lehigh is one of 35 college football programs from around the nation participating in the event this year, which is spearheaded by Villanova head coach Andy Talley. The event is free of charge and targets potential donors from ages 18 to 44.

Coen announces changes to remaining spring practice schedule
As the Lehigh football approaches the end of the third week of its spring practice segment, head coach Andy Coen has announced several changes to the Mountain Hawks practice schedule over the next nine days. Thursday was slated to be the tenth of Lehigh’s 15 allotted practice segments, but due to the threat of inclement weather, the Mountain Hawks will instead practice Friday at 4:30 p.m.

2013 Lehigh Football Spring Prospectus
The Lehigh football program enjoyed another outstanding season in 2012. The Mountain Hawks posted their third consecutive ten win season, finishing at 10-1. Lehigh won its first nine games, and ran its regular season winning streak to an FCS-best 18 straight. A home loss to Colgate cost the Mountain Hawks their third straight Patriot League title, but Lehigh rebounded the next week to defeat arch rival Lafayette 38-21 in Easton, for its fifth consecutive win over the Leopards.

Hungry Mountain Hawks to begin spring practice Friday
The Lehigh football program returns to the field for the start of their spring practice segment on Friday, eager to get back to work following the disappointment that came with being denied a playoff berth despite a 10-1 overall record. The Mountain Hawks are 31-6 over the last three seasons, with three-straight ten-plus win campaigns, but after being left out of the postseason party last year, the Mountain Hawks are hungry to get back to work in preparation for the 2013 season.

Eagles to hold 2013 training camp in Philadelphia
After holding training camp at Lehigh University for the last 17 seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles announced Friday that the team will hold its 2013 training camp at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia. The NovaCare Complex serves as the year-round training site for the Eagles organization.

Coen adds Mark Surma to football coaching staff
Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of Mark Surma to the Mountain Hawks’ coaching staff. Surma spent the last six seasons at Franklin & Marshall College, the first four as a student-athlete and the last two as an assistant coach. He will serve as the Assistant Defensive Backs coach for the Mountain Hawks.

Spadola has strong showing at NFL Scouting Combine
Lehigh wide receiver Ryan Spadola had the opportunity to showcase his talents for all 32 NFL teams as he participated in the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. The record-setting Mountain Hawk standout arrived in Indianapolis on Thursday and enjoyed a strong showing in his on-field workouts on Sunday.

Lehigh looks back on 2012 season at annual football banquet
The 2012 Lehigh football banquet was held Saturday, February 17th at Lehigh’s Iacocca Hall on the Mountaintop Campus. The Mountain Hawks looked back on their 2012 season in which Lehigh’s 10-1 record marked their third straight ten-win season and the tenth ten-win season in school history.

Coen Welcomes 20 in Lehigh Football Class of 2017
Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of 20 student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks’ football program as the Class of 2017. Members of the incoming class hail from ten different states and encompass almost every position group. This is also the first class in which scholar-athlete aid was made available following a decision by the Patriot League’s Council of Presidents last year.

Later this month, Lehigh All-American wide receiver Ryan Spadola will look to impress National Football League scouts when he participates in the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Spadola will have another opportunity to showcase his talents on Saturday when he will participate in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game in Allen, Texas.

Lehigh football places 24 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh football team placed 25 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced Tuesday. Among Lehigh’s 25 honorees were Capital One Academic All-American Zach Barket and five of the Mountain Hawks’ All-Patriot League selections.
