BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Thirteen members of the Lehigh field hockey team were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Thursday. The 13 honorees were second most in the league, and most by a Lehigh team since the 2009 season, as the Mountain Hawks continue to impress in the classroom.

Lehigh’s academic success was led by freshman Katherine Koomar with a 4.00 GPA in the College of Arts and Sciences. Following Koomar is sophomore Steph Fratoni (3.88), seniors Carly Smith (3.75) and Brittany Johnson (3.67), freshman Amie Diamond (3.71) and sophomore Lindsay Metzger (3.65).
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. Six of Lehigh’s 13 field hockey representatives earned at least a 3.60, landing them on Lehigh's Dean’s list as well.

The 2012 season saw the Mountain Hawks beat a CAA team for the first time since 2006 while scoring their most goals since 2004 in that contest. Lehigh also topped perennial NEC power Monmouth for the first time since 2005. A young squad sees Lehigh lose only six seniors to graduation.
