The Lehigh field hockey team recently wrapped up a strong spring season, continuing hard at work for the 2012 campaign. The Mountain Hawks hosted two tournaments and their annual Alumni Game while also traveling to Lafayette. With significant talent and experience returning, Lehigh looks to continue building off last season’s third-place finish and Patriot League Tournament berth.
Deep into its spring season, the Lehigh field hockey team took time out of its busy schedule to take part in a 5K walk last Saturday morning (Mar. 24) to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. The Third Annual Run to LIVE featured an 8K run, 5k walk and 1/2 mile fun run on the Ironton Rail Trail in Whitehall, Pa.
Fresh off a strong 2011 season, the Lehigh field hockey team will enjoy a busy spring schedule, beginning this Saturday with a home tournament against some of the top teams in the region. In total, the Mountain Hawks host two tournaments, play at archrival Lafayette and host an Alumni Game as they prepare for the 2012 campaign this fall.
Following a strong season on the field and in the classroom, nine Lehigh field hockey players have been named to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, as announced on Monday. The Mountain Hawks also earned an academic team award for posting a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Ten members of the Lehigh field hockey team were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday, capping off an impressive season on and off the field. The Mountain Hawks finished 3-2 in league play to earn a spot in the Patriot League Tournament while garnering numerous academic accolades including the Patriot League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
