Vote McBride into the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Lehigh baseball standout Matt McBride is having a stellar season for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. And now the fans have a chance to vote McBride into the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game, which will take place in Buffalo on July 11, televised on the MLB Network. Voting ends at 11:59 PM EDT on Friday, June 22.
McBride is listed on the ballot as an outfielder for the Pacific Coast League’s team. Fans can vote up to 25 times per email address: www.milb.com/milb/events/asg/y2012/ballot/
As of June 13, the Bethlehem native ranks sixth in the Pacific Coast League in batting with a .339 average and also has four home runs and 31 RBIs. He leads the team with 67 hits and is second on the team with 16 doubles.
One of McBride’s best games of the season came on May 30 when he went 4-for-6 with five RBIs.
As a Mountain Hawk, McBride led Lehigh to its first-ever Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2006. He won the league’s Triple Crown (.417-12-61) and set a then-league record with 88 hits, which now ranks second all-time. After his breakout junior campaign, he was named an ABCA All-American, Louisville Slugger All-American and College Baseball Foundation All-American.
This past spring, the slugger received a non-roster invite to the Colorado Rockies Spring Training Camp, his first-career invite to a big league camp.
