NCAA announces 16 baseball regional sites

Posted: May 28, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS – With the 2006 NCAA baseball tournament less than a week away, the NCAA has announced the sixteen host tournament sites for the baseball regional round, which runs June 2-5.  The sixty-four team field is comprised of 16 four-team, double-elimination regionals, with the winner of each regional advancing to a Super Regional round the following weekend.

The NCAA baseball tournament is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2006.

By virtue of winning the Patriot League tournament, Lehigh (28-26) will compete in the tournament for the first time in school history, as one of the 30 conference champions.  The remainder of the at-large teams, along with the pairings for each regional site, will be announced live on Monday as part of ESPN’s Road to Omaha coverage.  The show will air on Memorial Day at 12:30 pm EDT, and Lehigh will find out its destination at that time.

ESPN is located on Service Electric dial position 24.
