BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Justin Pacchioli and junior Colin Gotzon earned the Patriot League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively, it was announced Monday. Both players earned league honors for the first time in their careers. Pacchioli is the first Player of the Week award winner from Lehigh in six years, while Gotzon is the first Mountain Hawk to be Pitcher of the Week since 2011.

Despite missing two contests in the Bronx over the weekend, Pacchioli managed to bat .533 in four games against Maryland Eastern Shore, Iona and Fordham this week. He went 5-for-10 at the plate with three runs and five RBI in a doubleheader sweep of UMES to begin the week. Pacchioli went 3-for-4 in Saturday’s loss to Fordham and remains Lehigh’s best hitter with a .385 batting average this season.

Gotzon picked up two wins this week and struck out nine batters in as many innings. His first victory came in a five-inning outing against UMES in which he allowed one run and two hits while striking out three Hawks batters. Lehigh won the game 13-2. Gotzon has pitched six straight scoreless innings, four of which came in the final frames of the Mountain Hawks’ 10-inning win against Iona on Sunday.

The Mountain Hawks will play a single game at Rider on Wednesday before heading to Baltimore, Md. for a trio of games against Coppin State over the weekend.
