BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Lehigh baseball standout Matt McBride will play in the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game takes place in Buffalo, N.Y. and will be televised on the MLB Network. You can also listen to the game live on ESPN Radio 1230/1320. The Bethlehem, Pa. native earned a spot on the Pacific Coast League team after having a breakout first half of the season for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Rockies.

McBride ranks third in the PCL in doubles with 28, fifth in the league with a .349 batting average and is seventh with a .556 slugging percentage. He also leads his team with 96 hits. McBride has seven homers and 49 RBIs as well.

McBride has especially been on a tear as of late, going 9-for-21 with a home run and five RBIs in the final five games leading into the All-Star break.

As a Mountain Hawk, McBride led Lehigh to its first-ever Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2006. He won the league’s Triple Crown (.417-12-61) and set a then-league record with 88 hits, which now ranks second all-time. After his breakout junior campaign, he was named an ABCA All-American, Louisville Slugger All-American and College Baseball Foundation All-American.

This past spring, the slugger received a non-roster invite to the Colorado Rockies Spring Training Camp, his first-career invite to a big league camp.
