BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In a late development, former Lehigh standout Matt McBride has been reassigned to the Double-A Akron Aeros, which means he will miss his anticipated homecoming this weekend with Columbus. McBride went 1-for-3 with a double in Thursday afternoon’s contest against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before learning the news. The Clippers are in town facing the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in a four-game wraparound series which begins Friday.

McBride will join Akron in Erie Friday night. He hit .286 with 12 home runs and 46 RBI in 76 games with the Aeros before his call-up to Columbus. He also swatted 20 doubles and four triples for an impressive .514 slugging percentage, good for sixth in the Eastern League at the time of his recall. McBride also posted an .863 OPS (on-base plus slugging), which stood 10th.
