Kent named to Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball senior Cory Kent was named to the 10-member Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the league Wednesday. Kent – a Second Team All-Patriot League selection this season – had a standout 2012 campaign on the mound for Lehigh while also excelling in the classroom as the Wilson , Pa. native earned his second consecutive Academic All-league honor.
Kent ranked No.2 in the nation in complete games (seven) and No. 2 in the Patriot League with a 1.88 ERA. His ERA also ranked No. 6 in the league’s all-time single-season list while it ranks No. 4 in Lehigh’s single-season history. Kent bolstered a 1.03 ERA during league play and was responsible for four of Lehigh’s six league wins. The Wilson, Pa. native broke the Lehigh record for career appearances with 70 and finishes his career at Lehigh ranked No. 1 in saves (23) and in the Top 10 in ERA (3.39).
Kent was also successful off the field with a 3.36 GPA as the history major will be returning to Lehigh in the fall to continue to pursue his Master’s in secondary education. Kent has made the Dean’s List three times and earned the Faculty Athletics Council Award four times. Kent also has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice in his career.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his or her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for the honor.
