John Fugett joins the Mountain Hawks as an assistant coach after serving as the associate head baseball coach at Germantown Academy.
Fugett will begin his first season as a full-time assistant coach and will serve as the assistant pitching coach as well as the assistant recruiting coordinator.
The Philadelphia, Pa. native worked specifically with the pitchers at Germantown Academy which is one of the premier high school baseball programs in the Philadelphia region as the team was nationally ranked last year. In addition to coaching, Fugett is also a pitching instructor at Bushbeck's Full Armor Baseball Academy which produces several Division I players and professional prospects including the 2010 first-round selection of the Philadelphia Phillies Jesse Biddle.
Fugett played four years of college baseball at Lafayette, leading the Leopards to a Patriot League championship in 2007. He was the team's closer for three years and was a 2005 First-Team Patriot League Relief Pitcher.
In the summer of 2006, Fugett lead the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League in appearances as he palyed for the Kitsap Bluejackets. The summer before, in 2005, Fugett pitched for the Kutztown Rockies in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League where he was one of the league's best relief pitchers and was a member of the league All-Star Team.
