Lehigh drops pair to Binghamton Saturday
The Lehigh baseball team played a pair of crisp games but fell 3-1 and 6-4 to Binghamton Saturday. Senior Cory Kent pitched a seven-inning complete game to start the afternoon while senior Ryan Gajdos had two of Lehigh’s five hits including a solo home run. In the second game, Lehigh’s rally fell short after trailing 5-0. Senior Brendan McGaheran extended his hit streak to eight games.

Lehigh hosts Binghamton in four-game set this weekend
The Lehigh baseball team will look to keep its hot bats going this weekend when the Mountain Hawks return to Goodman Campus to host Binghamton for four games – two on Saturday starting at noon and two on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. Lehigh is coming off two straight wins while the Mountain Hawks offense has produced 10 or more hits in six of their last seven games.

Turner’s three RBIs leads Lehigh past Saint Joseph’s, 6-3
Trailing 2-1 after five innings, Casey Turner drove in a run in the sixth and two in the eighth en route to a 6-3 win over Saint Joseph’s Tuesday. Turner finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Tyler Brong and Brendan McGaheran added two hits each. Jordan Smith earned the win in relief as he, Joey McNamara and Cory Kent combined to allow just five hits.

Lehigh travels to face Saint Joseph’s Tuesday
The Lehigh baseball (4-13-1) team will hit the road for a midweek game as the Mountain Hawks head to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph’s (4-15) Tuesday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. Lehigh is coming off a win in its final game of a four-game set vs. Iona while the Mountain Hawks’ bats have caught fire as of late, delivering at least 10 hits in five of their last six games.

Lehigh earns split vs. Iona Sunday
After dropping the first game 10-7 on Sunday, the Lehigh baseball team salvaged the final game of the four-game series vs. Iona with a 13-7 win. Senior Brendan McGaheran paced Lehigh with a 6-for-9 performance on the day, including two doubles, a home run, five runs scored and three stolen bases. Freshman Justin Pacchioli added a 4-for-7 day with four runs scored and three stolen bases.

Lehigh drops two tough games to Iona Saturday
The Lehigh baseball team dropped the first two of a four-game set to Iona Saturday in Lehigh’s home opener. Lehigh squandered a lead late in both games, falling 6-4 and then 7-3. Senior Cory Kent started the day going the distance in a seven-inning game, allowing three earned runs and striking out six while freshman Nick Stevens went 6.1 IP in game two, allowing two earned runs and four hits.

Lehigh hosts Iona in home opener this weekend
The Lehigh baseball team will look to keep its hot bats going this weekend when the Mountain Hawks return to Goodman Campus for their home opener. Lehigh will host Iona for a four-game set with double headers slated for noon and 2:30 Saturday and Sunday. The Mountain Hawks are coming off back-to-back games in which they scored 10+ runs, the first time Lehigh has done that since April 22, 2009.

Darkness leaves Lehigh-Delaware State tied in extras
The Lehigh baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead but that was soon erased. Lehigh retook the lead but Delaware State again tied it up. The two went back and forth until the eighth when Lehigh took a one-run lead but Delaware State tied the game with two outs in the ninth. The teams played two innings to try to settle things before the game was called tied at 11-11 due to darkness Wednesday.

Lehigh’s bats explode in 14-4 win over Coppin State
The Lehigh baseball team snapped its 10-game skid with a dominating 14-4 win at Coppin State Tuesday. The offense exploded for 14 hits while all of Lehigh’s runs came in a six-inning span. Four Lehigh players had multi-hit games including Chad Warga, who was 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Joey McNamara earned his first career win, pitching 3.2 shutout relief innings with seven strikeouts.

Lehigh hits the road for pair of midweek games
The Lehigh baseball team (2-10) returns to the East Coast after eight games in California as the Mountain Hawks will travel to take on Coppin State (0-12) on Tuesday and Delaware State (10-6) on Wednesday. Both games are slated to start at 3 p.m. Lehigh will look to snap its 10-game skid after facing some stellar competition on the program’s first-ever trip to the West Coast.

Lehigh’s offense quieted in 14-2 loss to Columbia
The Lehigh baseball team was unable to overcome an early deficit as the Mountain Hawks fell 14-2 to Columbia Saturday in the final game of the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament. Lehigh’s first hit came in the fifth and its two runs came in the eighth on RBIs from junior Alex Jacquez and senior Cory Kent. Lehigh will return to the East Coast with a pair of midweek games Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lehigh falls to Utah, Santa Clara Friday
The Lehigh baseball team dropped two games Friday at Santa Clara, part of the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament. Lehigh first fell 11-3 to Utah and then 5-3 to Santa Clara after Lehigh held a 3-2 lead in the eighth. Cory Kent had a gutty performance, going 6.0 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out six while Chad Warga had the go-ahead RBI in the sixth but Lehigh wasn't able to hold on.

Lehigh outhits SJSU, but falls 8-4 Thursday
The Lehigh baseball team had eight hits to San Jose State’s seven, but the Mountain Hawks fell 8-4 to the Spartans Thursday in the first game of the Jack Gifford Memorial Tournament. Lehigh was down early, but showed no quit scoring four times in the final four innings. Casey Turner and Tyler Brong each had one RBI while Alex Jacquez hit a two-run home run, his first of the season.

Two baseball games being broadcast this week from California
Lehighsports.com will be broadcasting a pair of Lehigh baseball games this week as the Mountain Hawks are in the midst of their spring break trip in California. Lehigh’s game at San Jose State Thursday at 9 p.m. followed by Friday’s game at Santa Clara at 9 p.m. will feature live audio with former Lehigh Director of Multimedia Jeff Tourial on the call.

Lehigh comes up short in 5-2 loss to San Jose State Monday
The Lehigh baseball team (2-6) could not overcome an early deficit as the Mountain Hawks fell 5-2 at San Jose State (4-7) Monday. Junior Casey Turner went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored while sophomore Tyler Brong had the other RBI, which came in a ninth-inning rally. Junior Brandon Sady also added two hits while on the mound, three Lehigh pitchers combined for nine strikeouts.

Lehigh drops doubleheader to No. 25 Cal Sunday
The Lehigh baseball team fell 10-0 and 18-3 at No. 25 Cal Sunday as the Mountain Hawks were swept on the weekend by a Golden Bears team that advanced to the second round of the 2011 College World Series. Lehigh was unable to overcome slow starts in both games Sunday. Lehigh’s three runs on the day came off the bat of senior Cory Kent, who hit a pinch-hit three-run homer, the first of his career.

Lehigh falls 9-3 at No. 25 Cal Saturday
The Lehigh baseball team put together a three-run rally in the ninth but fell 9-3 to No. 25 Cal Saturday in the first of a three-game series. Lehigh's runs came from an Alex Jacquez two-run double and a Ryan Gajdos RBI SAC fly. Lehigh finished with nine hits from nine different players while Lehigh pitchers only allowed four earned runs. The teams will play two more tomorrow starting at 2 p.m.

Lehigh travels to California for eight-game trip
The Lehigh baseball team’s 2012 schedule is highlighted by the program’s first-ever trip to California where Lehigh will play eight games over the course of a week against some stellar competition including a three-game set at No. 25 Cal which advanced to the second round of the 2011 College World Series. The Mountain Hawks will also take on San Jose State, Utah, Santa Clara and Columbia.

McBride gets first Major League Spring Training invite
Matt McBride, a 2006 second-round MLB Draft pick out of Lehigh, received a non-roster invite to the Colorado Rockies Spring Training Camp, his first-career big league invite. The Bethlehem, Pa. native spent the offseason locally, working out on Lehigh University's Goodman Campus and officially reported with the pitchers and catchers to Scottsdale, Ariz. for the Rockies’ first workout on Feb. 20.
