Patriot League announces latest Presidents Cup Standings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released the latest 2010-2011 Presidents’ Cup Standings on Monday. Lehigh checked in with 61.25 total points, which places the Mountain Hawks in a tie with Colgate for third place. The men are currently in second place with 31 points, while the women hold the sixth position with 30.25 points. Bucknell is the current overall leader with 71.75 points. The Bison are followed by Navy, Lehigh and Colgate, American, Army, Lafayette and Holy Cross.
On the men’s side, Bucknell holds a very slim lead over the Mountain Hawks with 31.25 points. The Bison captured the regular-season and Patriot League Tournament title in basketball, while Lehigh reached the semifinals of the league tournament. Navy stands in third place, trailing Lehigh with 30.25 points. The Mids were followed by American, Lafayette, Army and Colgate and Holy Cross to round out the standings.
In the women’s standings, Bucknell sits comfortably in first place with 40.5 points followed by Colgate with 36.75 points. American checks in at number three, followed by a tie for fourth between Army and Navy. The Mids had an impressive winter showing, capturing the regular-season and Tournament Championships in basketball and the indoor track and field title. The Mountain Hawks placed sixth with 30.25 points, followed by Lafayette and Holy Cross to round out the standings. Lehigh women’s basketball team shared the Patriot League regular season title in basketball and reached the semi-finals in the league tournament.
Presidents’ Cup points are based on a team’s performance in the regular season and postseason Patriot League standings. Bucknell has won 16 President’s Cups. The Mountain Hawks have yet to capture a title, but have finished second overall twice and finished third last year.
