BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With a strong fall semester in the pool behind them, the Lehigh swimming and diving team is excited about what lies ahead in January and February. To get ready for the spring semester, the Mountain Hawks will be taking a six-day winter training trip to Orlando, Florida from January 2-7.

The Mountain Hawks have been off from competition since sweeping a dual meet from rival Lafayette on November 19. Lehigh’s men are off to a 7-0 start in dual meet competition after beating Lafayette for the 20th straight year. The Mountain Hawks are now 16-1 in duals since the start of the 2009-10 season. Lehigh’s women are coming off their third straight triumph over the Leopards, which moved the Brown and White to 3-2 overall in 2010.

“We are heading to Orlando to enjoy some hard work, warm weather and team time,” explained Lehigh head coach Rob Herb. “We will work out at the Orlando YMCA on International Drive. We will be training hard with the goal of hitting 100,000 yards before we return to Bethlehem. “

The team will return to Bethlehem on January 7 and will be tested almost immediately with a meet at Marist on Saturday, January 8.

“The Marist meet will be even more of a challenge with such heavy training on our backs,” Herb said. “We’re all looking forward to a change of scenery. If there are any alums in the area, I invite them to come by and say hi.”

Lehigh will travel to Marist to face the Red Foxes at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8. The following weekend the Mountain Hawks will host their final home meet when Patriot League rival Army visits Jacobs Pool on January 15.
